I have a beautiful potted rose, i have moved it into a larger pot but would really like to put into the ground. It is special as one of my son's bought it for me so dont want to risk loosing it as it have been doing really well outside in the partial shade. Anyone been successful in doing this, if so when and is any special compost required to help with the transplanting. Thanks in advance.

I think your rose will be happier in the ground. Here is some RHS advice. I hope you will have years of pleasure from it.

Try and find similar light/shade conditions. Add some good rotted compst to the soil plus rootgrow, tease some of those round and round roots out a little and heelp the scion above soil surface. Keep your rose watered ie 5 litres every other day if the weather is very dry
