I have one about 2 ft in diameter, it used to be a big pond but the dog kept trashing it as he hunted for frogs. We gave up eventually and filled it in and made a gravel area. But we still had the waterfall and so put a 2 ft wide container under it with small pump. Works a treat. We still get frogs though. Just order Ed some oxygenator plants for the year. Rocks disguise the edges.

Cheapest way is to dig a hole with sloping sides and maybe ledges and put a membrane in it.
Disguise the edges with whatever takes your fancy
Voila.
A pond

19829chad it depends what you want to put in it. If you want fish or wildlife any pond needs to be at least 2ft deep in one area with gently sloping sides. If you just want a fountain and a few plants you could get away with 1ft depth though be aware that it could totally freeze in the winter. Whatever you decide please add a little ramp so that any creatures that fall in can get out again. Water features, moving or otherwise are a lovely addition to any garden. Good luck with yours. smile

You can make your own small pond in any watertight container. An old bucket, or large planter, an old sink. Just dig a hole to set it into, it doesn't have to be flush with the ground. Fill it with rainwater and put in a water plant or two and away you go.

Washing up bowl? You can disguise it with other pots around it. On Gardeners World last week a pond was made using a pot. Try watching on catch up.
