Yes - it was a delightful pale pink, but is now orangey-red - definitely large and papery. Very pretty, but not what I bought!

Another explanation is the poppies are grown from 3cm long root cuttings. Sometimes you get get 2 plants growing together but don’t notice this until the plants flower.?

“ Most people are familiar with the large, papery Oriental Poppy (Papaver orientale) with the blowsy orange flowers. It sometimes comes in red, pink or white. The latter colours will often revert to the standard orange”
Different colour changes but I think that illustrates what can happen

This is my first attempt at growing Icelandic poppies from seed and I have a crop varying from deep orange/ yellow through rosy/pink to cream. Really pleased and so easy to grow. Although probably will not survive a hard winter.

I chose it specially because of the beautiful colour!

Must be something in the makeup of the soil----acidic/alkaline ?

How dare it!!! grin

It’s reverted to its original which can happen to some ‘modified’ or designer plants
