Breeks not breaks

Cherrytree isn’t it breaks not trousers in Scotland? I’m just a sassenach but it’s something a Scottish friend used to say.

I've tried to get rid of the St John's Wort that originally crept under the fence from next door, but I notice that it's sprung
up again. I surrender!

The SEED app is very useful for identifying plants. It is free to download to your phone.

Hi folks
Thank you all for the feedback.?

We do actually have Rose of Sharon (St John's wort) in our garden.

The berries on our R of S Bush are quite small compared to the berries in the photograph.

However, as you say Nanthewiser (great name) there are several types of St John's Wort,
In our garden, we have both a bush (wish I lollypop) and a low creeping Rose of Sharon.

The bush does have much smaller flowers than low growing variety.

Kitty - I use hoik too. I think it's Geordie.
"hoy it oot the winder".

I love stuff that you can't get rid of because you can hoick it out without the worry that it won't reappear.

Hoick is my new favourite word!!

Yes it does, I’ve decided enough’s enough and any newcomers get swiftly dispatched!

Definitely hypericum acka St. John’s Wort. Once you have one it spreads everywhere.

Namsnanny Wed 16-Sept-20 17:23:21

Yes you're right NanTheWiser I have one in my garden.
The berries turn from green through to orange/pinky colour then red to black.
Lovely filler in a border. No trouble either.

NanTheWiser Wed 16-Sept-20 17:18:43

At a guess (difficult without seeing the whole shrub) I’d say Hypericum (Rose of Sharon). I won’t guess which species as there are a few.

Spotted on walk.
Berries were on a bush.
