Will they come true to colour?

Thanks Hetty and Esspee. I'll look forward eagerly to seeing how they turn out! I'm amazed that they germinated so well and so quickly - much better than the original seeds.

Even if the original plant was an F1 hybrid the seeds were definitely not.
One of the joys of collecting your own seed is the excitement in seeing what actually results.
If you wish a pure variety you will have to purchase new seeds.

Trisha57, I have found, in the past, that seeds are never guaranteed to resemble the parent plant. You never know where that bee has been and what the 'other parent' plant is!

Of course cuttings and root cuttings will be exact clones of the parent.

I saved some seeds from a deep blue delphinium that I had grown from a mixed colour pack of seeds this year. I sowed them straight away, and now have at least a dozen seedlings. Will they be deep blue? I don't think they are F1 hybrids. Can anyone advise, or will I just have to wait to see what colour I get when they flower?
