Took myself out in the farden for an hour this morning to have a bit of a tidy up. Tidied greenhouse too. Then in i thought in light of the threats of shortage of salds and veggies due to freight bans and Brexit thought i would sow some lettuce seeds, just a few, in a small pot, to see if they will grow this early if i keep them indoors in the warm My greenhouse isn't heated so cant leave in there. If i am successful i will do more and hopefully have an crop in the early part of the New Year. Wish me luck.

You could try sprouting seeds in a salad sprouter indoors such as beetroot, broccoli etc as well as mustard and cress. They should grow on a warm windowsill and you crop the leaves as micro greens

So we won't be having flowers in our window boxes or on the sills, it'll be salads and vegetables. There'll be a mad rush on gro-bags and compost over Christmas in readiness for the New Year.

EllanVannin you could try making your own compost with all the vegetable pairings over Christmas. If you have a garden you can dig a trench and put it in or you could ask Santa for a compost maker.
