What on Earth.....

We had some thing like it a couple of houses ago. A scientific neighbour diagnosed it as star jelly. He said it comes in several colours and has many theories about origin. Sorry greyd that’s all I can remember other than Mr C gathered it up and disposed of it!

Scotland Outdoors pages on the BBC has an article on this topic headed “the “jelly” mystery”. Loads of contributions but no definitive answer as yet.

My goodness! I read BBC Scotland’s jelly article. Some of the theories were hilarious (the souls of dead politicians?); some of them were downright scary, but as Esspee says, nothing conclusive. The only thing you can say is that there appears to be a lot of it about! Did it ever come back, Corner, after Mr C got rid of it?

It does look a bit like moon jellyfish “flesh”. I think she’ll be consoled by the fact that they are not the only ones that have it!

The only jelly like substance at the moment is frogs spawn. Could it be a non fertilised version? No black spots.

Strange! It does look a bit like frogspawn and it's the right season for it too. Could be someone's playing a joke. I'd just bin it, carefully and wash hands.

We had a thread about this a while ago, gd, and I think the consensus then was star jelly. I remember because it is a bit freaky!!!!!

So star jelly is the consensus then? Thankyou! I will pass all this on to her and tell her not to let the guinea pigs out until GS has been sent out in rubber gloves to pick it all up and dispose of it (as a punishment for not coming off the X box when he’s asked!?). He’ll probably be sick, but it’s character building!
