Is anyone having trouble with passwords. All of a sudden I’m being asked to log into sites I usually go straight into ie.gransnet and others. Doesn’t matter what I do change passwords etc I’m being told it’s wrong or doesn’t match with email address. I’m taring my hair out. Any ideas ladies.

Has your computer/phone been hacked?

I’m finding that I can only change my passwords on my PC, I can’t do it on my iPad, this is since I had an iPad update last week, I’ve notified them and I assume that it will be sorted. I can’t log into any online supermarket sites either, so it’s back to the PC again.

on this laptop it asks if you want it to remember passwords for you, then it enters them automatically on that site.
i find it v useful.
does yours have that function.
of course you do have to remember the originating password to get into the computer or email/google.
i write them down, in obscure places, in scrambled form.
but i don't do anything financial online, nor is anyone around to find out anything.
i'm not sure what i have written has made sense. sorry.
ps, has this got anything at all to do with gardening?

Hi wellbeck.
I usually click save password I have never known it to work !
I write mine down too. Sorry didn’t think I’d posted in gardening.
Oopsadaisy.
Have had conversations with the two sites involved and nothing positive has been resolved. From now I’m not using anything that needs a log in and password. Shame though.

I think most sites that you are logged into permanently, will ask you to re-enter passwords at regular intervals, just to check that it s still you operating the site

It is similar to the way after using your cash and flash cards at tills, you will be asked to put the card in the slot and enter your pin.

I never save my passwords. I think it is safer to enter it by hand every time. Also good for the grey cells.

What has this got to do with gardening?

susieq3, have you recently cleared your browsing history and cookies? That can result in saved passwords, no longer being saved. As it's not just one site, it could be your device which is causing the problem
Sometimes after a Windows update, I find I need to re-enter passwords, which have been previously saved.

Hi marydoll.
Yes I did clear my browsing history and cookies because in an effort to try and sort this out I was told to delete them. It is to my eternal regret as I’ve now lost all my saved items!
I wonder how my device could be causing the problem. I am not very clued up I’m afraid.

susie, I'm having a think about this. It doesn't help you, but I do like a puzzle!

I know it sounds obvious, and I'm probably teaching my granny to suck eggs, but passwords and email addresses are usually case sensitive, have you checked this?

I'm only saying this because I have a new keyboard and can no longer tell if CAPS lock is on or off , I used to have a green light which alerted me. It's driving me crazy, so I usually end up opening a Word doc and typing on that first, as I too am having problems with my passwords!

Some sites, such asPAYPAL and Ebay do force a password change occasionally to protect you.

One of the solutions suggested for passwords not being accepted is to sign out of wifi, reboot your device and log back into wifi.
Before you log out of wifi, ensure you know your Wifi password to enable you to log back in again.

Another thought, try logging in on to different devices, e.g phone and tablet/laptop/ PC , to see if you have the problem on more than one device.

These are things I would try if it was me.

when i enter a new password, or a password for a new site, a little key symbol appears at the end of the title bar.
i click on this, then the box asking me if i want to save it appears.
i find it useful. you can also check all saved passwords.
i know nothing about technics.
