Reliable sunflowers please - NOT Russian Giant

People in our village planted daffodil bulbs last year near the road name signs, they look delightful. The same group, plus others, will be sowing sunflower seeds in similar places soon.

Thanks Espee, had a look. No email from the coffee morning organiser, doesn't look as though she wants to do it.

Have a look at the Gardener’s World website Shandy57. They have advice on growing them and recommendations about the best varieties.

Now is the perfect time to plant sunflowers.

I think it’s such a lovely idea I am going out this morning to buy some seeds at Lidl. I will be giving a packet to all my friends and neighbours.

Thank you very much for your ideas, I hadn't realised there was so much choice. Not sure if we'll be doing it, the organiser emailed and said would have been good if it was the season for sunflowers - think we've had a miscommunication.

Simply seeds, who I’ve been using for years, are excellent quality and service, they have Giant Yellow which look about right 99p.

Now, I've just bought and planted some SF seeds which I bought in Lidl for just 29p. Haven't done SF previously but have had great success with all the other species of flower seeds I've bought from them in the past. Great price and they certainly get my vote.
