It's been a good year for berry crops hasn't it! What are you going to do with them grannysyb? I had some redcurrants, blackberries, raspberries and strawberries in my freezer, left over from last year and so made a summer pudding yesterday.

We make jam. It’s been a good year here for Loganberries so we have a good stock now for the winter. DH often makes mixed fruit jam with odds and ends of fruit from the garden. We are a bit short of jam sugar at the moment.

I freeze some redcurrants and also make jelly. The frozen ones are lovely added to apples for a crumble. The jelly can be served with cold meats or spread on scones so quite versatile. I just use ordinary granulated sugar usually a 5kg bag from Sainsbury’s for when I make chutney. The very best though are white currants which make a delicious pink coloured jelly.

I freeze loganberries but the offshoot we gave dd has been so prolific she has made jam in her bread maker and everyone was gushing over how wonderful it was. I won’t have so many next year as my gardener cut the long trailing branches which were all over the path but left there for next year’s fruit. Sob!

Just returned home from a 13.5km hike around the Hertfordshire countryside. Saw [and tasted] the very first blackberries. Delicious those that are ripe as they have had a good amount of sunshine recently. Yum!sunshine
