Fed up of all the doom and gloom, I’ve picked myself a bunch of flowers from the garden - between phase 1 and phase 2 of the summer, so my last rose of the main season, and my first dahlias. Cheer us all up and show us your pickings today!

Sweet peas - I was going to ditch them since they’ve gone so straggly, not to mention white mildew that doesn’t respond to spray, and so many brown leaves. But they’re still producing a lot of flowers, so there’s been a stay of execution.

Shinamae it looks like your plant is an azalea, so please do repot it in ericaceous potting compost. Also feed it with ericaceous plant feed. Throughout the summer the plant makes the buds that flower next year.

I have a friend coming round tomorrow at 11 to help me repot some of my plants, I think she is a little more knowledgeable than me which wouldn’t be hard!!I have just bought multipurpose compost do I have to get special compost for different plants? I am repotting 2 corderlines tomorrow and I think they will be okay in ordinary compost… And I do have some general plant food…. Smaller corderlinesis at the back of the garden by the small fence I’m going to report them into quite big pots… Not a very clear photo I know but you get the general idea and I have been out scrubbing those slates today..????

Out in the garden just now before it gets too hot.

Some scraps I picked -

Pleased with the cosmos grown from seed - there were several different colours

Our red rose bush is still going strong

I love cosmos Shirley48, your dark red ones are beautiful. Here’s my flowers picked this morning, a few cosmos included. I seem to have a surfeit of verbena and bright orange dahlias at the moment.

Yes, I’m pleased with the Cosmos this year - the double (dark red) ones are like Chocolate cosmos although they don’t have the scent. A pretty geranium has just flowered too, that came from a small cutting from a neighbour.

My first of the sunflowers picked for the house. Sunrich Lime, it’s a beauty but I’ve had to do a lot of watering to keep them going.

Lovely sunflower, Abitbarmy - one of ours had snapped off, so just brought it in, with a few other scraps
