Butterflies - where are they?

It occurred to yesterday on the golf course as I watched a single butterfly go fluttering by that I have seen very few this year. Is it just me? Are you seeing the usual number of butterflies. I also saw a single swallow where we used to have more I'm sure.

(I have started this on the gardening thread but its maybe more for Environment but we don't seem to have that as a Forum thread heading - should we have one?)

LilyBlue

I saw this recently near a canal in Yorkshire.
Don’t think I’ve ever seen one like it before.

Yes, I've seen moths like that but not so far this year.

There were just five bees on the lavender bushes this afternoon. Normally they are full of bees.

Today bees were on this whatever it is (planted 60 yrs ago).

It's a plain tree, pretty now.

We saw butterflies near our gorgeous bright Crapes, early today.

This might be off theme but just had to say we were surrounded with swooping swallows on the 12 fairway today it was wonderful. Only one butterfly though and no dragonflies/maidenflies on the ponds and lakes.
