I'm looking to buy some more plants that flowers in January for next year. Iv got some already that are in full flower at moment ie

my Camelia' golden anniversary' that always drop its buds before then open. Iv covered the plant this year with hope ll get some flowers as it has loads on there at moment.. Its in a large pot and l feed it every month with BFB, so im really hoping.
l like to have flowers l can cut for the house.. l dont have room for shrubs but any idea of anything else l could grow for flowers in January ?
Does any one have any hellebores that are flowering in January ?

If your camellia is on the side of the garden where the morning sun hits you are unlikely to have flowers that survive.

I think that the frost might cause it .
If the ground is frozen - not much moisture is able to get into the plant .
I've given mine some tepid water .

Witch Hazel, mine is covered with small yellow flowers with a burgundy centre,it’s a bush, very fast growing, very satisfying for January flowers for ages.

Single Snowdrops are out (double flowered ones are in bud and will be out in a couple of weeks), Daffodils, wild primroses, cowslips, Hellebores - some with white flowers and a clump with masses of very attractive pink flowers - these are self sown seedlings, so somewhere nearby someone must have, probably, a purple one and the bees have been busy, one lone cyclamen coum, but there will be more soon, lesser celandines, violets and a dandelion

I know you said no shrubs but if you have room for a pot a Daphne Odora has small pink flowers and a wonderful heady scent, it's a real delight in winter.

Do people who grow witch hazel use it for anything, or is it purely decorative, please?

what a great list, thank you all so much. im going to take a look at all the plants mentioned and see whats available online.
l picked a little posy of yellow primroses and white snowdrops this morning to put on my bedside table, l love flowers from the garden that l can pick for my bedside table. Im so looking forward to Spring ,my husband planted dozens of scented hyacinths, and scented daffodils.. just out side my bedroom french windows so l can see them. As i'm bedbound a lot , the french windows was the first thing we had put in 6 yrs ago when we moved. He moved the bed last year so l can now see right up to the top of garden. l love the English seasons , l would not want to live anywhere else where there seasons never change.

Cath9 This photo is for you re your message, I couldn't see a way to post it on the private message reply. It's my Daphne Odora and is about 10 yrs old. It's compact, slow growing, the flowers are small but the scent is heavenly. I really hope you won't have to wait seven years for flowers .
