What am I growing that I’m sure I didn’t plant?!

We have some in the most difficult to access point in the garden. It’s very happy. Afraid I’m not.

I have the variegated one too * whitewave* it’s pretty but gets very big no idea where most of my plants come from 🤣

My garden border is full of it despite pulling/digging up bucketsful 🤬
I have no idea where it came from, probably a rogue seed dropped by a bird?

If the leaves look like this then it is cuckoo pint, attractive red berries which are poisonous to humans and animals; the sap is poisonous too so wear gloves.

I have a variegated variety planted in the woodland garden. It shines throughout the winter, and then the leaves die off leaving a pop of colour during late summer/autumn/winter.

these threads worry me as i know nothing about poisonous plants and that just looks like a nice green plant

Oh, thank you all! I wondered about that, but thought that the leaves of Cuckoo Pint/Lords and Ladies started nearer the ground. I knew I hadn’t planted it!

It's lovely in flower arrangements , but so annoying in the garden .
Yesterday , I noticed that it's growing in every flower bed .

Arum Maculatum aka Lords and Ladies or Cuckoo Pint. It will throw up a flower stalk and the green berries that follow will turn bright red. They are highly poisonous.

It looks like Lords and Ladies from the allium family. It is very invasive so dig deep and get the nut like tuber out
