Inherited shrub

I've just noticed the recent activity here - thanks for all the information and pointers. I intend using these shrubs (two more arriving today) to fill enormous pots on the patio. We have plenty of room but I'm pleased to learn that they respond well to a good trim!

Google lens tells me it’s Euonymus Emerald Gaiety.

Euonymous does spread quite extensively. Do need cutting back and can be a menace if allowed on the ground.

Isn't Euonymous what I used to call Privet? Every suburban garden had one....

Euonymous. The silver edged variety can revert to green . These look great growing out of gravel where they thrive and provide pretty pale green and cream all year round

I'm not very I.T savvy but I think that if you have Google Lens on your smartphone you can take a photo of the plant and Google lens will tell you what it is.

looks like Eunymus, or "spindle". It responds well to being hacked down if you want it smaller!
If I remember rightly, the woody bits root easily after a period in some water...

My neighbour's Euonymus is a thug, it's constantly breaking through the fence into my garden, I would beware which one you buy.

I also think it is a Euonymus, which I find very useful. They come in several different colours. My favourite is the cream edged one. They are a neat domed shape and can be clipped or not, as you wish. They will also climb if placed by a fence or trellis.
