I think they’re well and truly dead, BlueBelle - either from drowning in the beer, or from alcohol poisoning!

But if they weren’t, I know all too well that they’d only be back, that’s why I wonder why e.g. Alan Titchmarsh advises kindly collecting them up and depositing them elsewhere in the garden, where they can’t do any harm! All very well if you’ve got a couple of acres, with room for a pony….

Well if you empty them in a far corner of your garden they will arrive straight back where you first saw them
The nasty little buggers have eaten my cucumber plants to the ground even though I had cut off plastic tunnels ( bottles over them ) a net across the top and eggshells around the plant and still the buggers got them and ruined them for me

I emptied them into a far corner of the garden. If any birds find and eat them though, will they get tipsy? 😗

When we had a garden we used the ‘beer trap’. I always thought it seemed kinder somehow than shrivelling them with salt.

We have used. the beer trap method for years - despatched the little blighters top the compost heap once the jar is full and refill with beer and replace. No more lacey cabbages here

I found my kitchen drain overflowing into the yard this morning. It was blocked by snails attracted by scraps of food.

Slugs down the toilet is as bad as anything else which is not supposed to be there. It's poo, pee and toilet paper only.

I would just empty them in a corner somewhere out of the way to make a sluggy compost heap. Then they will rot and be absolutely disgusting but at least out of sight out of mind. There is nothing toxic there if it's just beer.

I certainly don’t think you should tip them down the toilet!

It’s definitely not meant for the disposal of slugs!

An empty grapefruit half works well. They congregate there and don't die... I just put them in garden at the front of the house where there is nothing precious.
I am fed up with snails this year... there were so many of them and they had happily munched all the flowers on my small but usually prolific apple tree. I don't see one apple starting to grow. We removed about 25 of them... they were big and obviously very well fed... I am fed up . I forgot to check as I was unwell. Though very tempted to end their lives I did respect their part in the food chain so again they were removed to the front. I wonder if they have or will find their way back. There seem to be a lot more of them generally this year!

Uggggghhhh! 🤮

Be Aware! The longer you leave them the worse the stench gets.

Put them on the compost heap and let them rot and feed the plants?

I'd tip the lot down the toilet and replace the beer.

After the slimy buggers stripped one of my only two tomato plants, about 3 days ago I went to war - 3/4 buried a ceramic pot, only about 4 inches deep, and filled it with some disgusting sounding beer that had been in a cupboard since a couple of Christmases ago - ‘Chocolate Orange Stout’ - goodness knows who bought that.
But the slugs evidently like it!

I haven’t counted the revolting slimy bodies but can see a lot. At some point I suppose I shall have to fish them out and dispose 🤮 - would get dh to do it but unfortunately he’s away for a week.
