Oh we’re struggling with our south west facing garden even at this time the sun is shining in, just hitting me sat on the sofa.
We have perfect fit blackout blinds at the patio door and window they’ve been shut all afternoon but it’s still boiling hot.
I think next year we’ll need to invest in an awning.

My south facing garden has no shade for most of the day, so I am grateful for the awning outside the french windows, which also keeps the living room cool.

Our garden is also south facing and enormous, by mid afternoon our shady space is a tiny square under the kitchen extension window.
But our bedroom and sitting room are lovely and cool.

My garden is south facing also. The beauty of this is that my living room is north facing and always cool in summer.

Our front living room faces south and has 8 windows
Luckily the four front windows are shaded by an upstairs balcony, and the whole front lawn by a large tulip tree. The living room is thus lovely and cool.

Glorious weather at last, and we have a lovely south facing garden set within the glorious framework of trees, almost none of them our responsibility.

Ours is a long thin house and there are huge wall to ceiling windows in the kitchen/breakfast room, plus large windows, french windows in the living room and even french windows in the utility room, all looking south over the garden, not to mention bedrooms and bathrooms.

Currently, the windows in the kitchen etc and utility room are open, but have blinds pulled across them to shelter us from the bright sunshine and heat, the living room french windows are shut with the curtains drawn. Upstairs all the south facing windows are shut with the curtains closed to keep out the heat and sun.

Oh the joys of a south facing garden!
