My beautiful Emily Brontë rose…

Beautiful.
Unfortunately roses don't grow well in the gardens here, have tried over the years but they are not happy in our soil.

Some years ago I had ‘Abraham Darby’ from David Austin, it smells wonderful. ‘Geoffrey Hamilton’ also has a lovely fragrance.

The last rose I bought was Cherry Bonica, recommended by a friend. Unfortunately it didn't survive being nibbled by deer. My established roses tolerate it, but not this one.

I have been eyeing that rose for a couple of years now.

I just wish I have some room😡

Lovely rose but far too neat and frilly to fit my idea of Emily Brontë.

Yes, in the catalogue it says re fragrance, ‘strong tea, old rose’ but TBH it doesn’t smell all that strong to me.
