Which plants for south-facing wall which floods?

I want to put some small shrubs and/or evergreen perennials against a south-facing wall. So far, so good, except the area is prone to flooding now and again. There is grass in front of the wall at present.

My criteria are:
Wildlife friendly (especially pollinators)
Must be sun-tolerant (the wall can get baking hot in summer)
Shouldn't be too tender (snow, ice & frost is normal in winter)
Must be able to withstand water from nearby brook, which floods for a couple of days 2-3 times a year
Preferably evergreen

Any ideas, all you gardeners out there? It's a tall order, but I'd love to hear suggestions.

All I can say is that we have a small Cherry tree in our front lawn. Last winter the soil around the tree (the tree is below soil level) was flooded. The tree stood in what was a puddle of water for weeks on end. I thought the roots would rot but no. In the Spring the tree bounced back better than ever. Also, for wildlife purposes, native plants might be a good idea. It's a tricky one but there must be situations like yours in the natural world where plants thrive. We have a plant which looks like Reeds in our garden and it takes everything the weather throws at it. Your local garden centre can probably advise.

Definitely ceonothus.
