I want to put some small shrubs and/or evergreen perennials against a south-facing wall. So far, so good, except the area is prone to flooding now and again. There is grass in front of the wall at present.
My criteria are:
Wildlife friendly (especially pollinators)
Must be sun-tolerant (the wall can get baking hot in summer)
Shouldn't be too tender (snow, ice & frost is normal in winter)
Must be able to withstand water from nearby brook, which floods for a couple of days 2-3 times a year
Preferably evergreen
Any ideas, all you gardeners out there? It's a tall order, but I'd love to hear suggestions.
