Beech tree not leafing in mid April

Beech trees often don't get leaves until late so yours may well be ok. I have a beautiful old purple beech which I worry about every year, and this year is no exception, as it is not in leaf yet here near Bristol. I am sure it will get it's leaves soon and hopefully so will yours.

I have just had a look at my beech hedge which gets pruned every year. The buds are tight shut and it's still in its winter colours.
I wouldn't worry too much about your beautiful tree. It may take longer than usual but it will surely be alive.

Beech trees always the last to come into leaf here in Bedfordshire. They are still tightly budded here. Hedges leaf up even later than the trees. Hope all’s well with yours.

This morning, I had a look at one beech in the park where I walk the dog, the buds were tiny and not yet green. At the other end of the park, there were beeches in full leaf, near to ones that were weeks behind. (Is it to do with access to water?)

Well, if the spring has been as cold where you are as here, don't worry. My beech trees that were not pruned are only just thinking about coming into leaf.

IThe tree I see from my window here is very late this year, so think the weather has held back many trees and hopefully your tree will come into leaf soon. We have had the birds walking along the larger branches looking to see where they usually nest but no leaves there yet, but a little more sun and light and they will catch up quite quickly
