DH has been struggling with back problems, mowing our back and front lawns. Both are on a slight slope. My wonderful stepson has offered to come and cut it weekly as he no longer has grass at his home to do. Our old mower is heavy and we want to buy a cordless one to make the job easier. I could also then have a go at it - possibly. It's not a huge garden but the back is quite big. Sorry not good on sizes. I would think it could all be done in about 30 mins time. Any recommendations would be really appreciated. Thanks

I would like a robot gutter cleaner!
Look what I just read today!

I must be still.dreaming.
I meant "yes, my neighbor's can cross a bumpy path" but no, he had to completely level the lawn by adding soil and seed. The price was equal to about the price of a weekly landscaper for one year.

Those who use robot lawnmowers, how does it cope with uneven slightly bumpy lawns?
Oh and can it cross over a slabbed garden path?
They sound great!
Yes, my neighbor's can. It cost a lot in preparations beforehand because he had to fill every little hole in his lawn first.
I agree with luckygirl13. My robot Flymo 350 does a good job and the guide wires keep it off the flower beds.
Mines a Shark and I cope well with it but the present gardener brings his own ,a petrol (I think) Stihl.
I have a Spear and Jackson battery cordless from Argos. It's out of guarantee but not heavily used as my lawn is usually cut by a gardener.
Unfortunately it's now faulty
mower not gardener and no-one wants to repair it. I would advise that you ask about repair before you buy.
When it was working, it was light and easy to use and did a good job.
When I realised my husband was struggling with our corded lawnmower I suggested he get the GTech cordless one. He has been more than happy with it, and also has their cordless strimmer.

My neighbor has a robot lawnmower that keeps everything tidy and runs on it's own every few days. It is very small and cost a small fortune. His grass is beautiful, even has the right stripes.
My son employs a robot vacuum.
What next? Will we have a robot roof and gutter cleaner soon? How about a robot that cleans the loo, pulls weeds from the garden or one to bring me breakfast in bed? Human robots (people) can deliver our groceries. Packaging companies have prepared and cooked our meals. Bouncies can rock the babies. What have we come to?
Can I have a robot to fall asleep at night for me because I can't do that very well anymore?
I'd love one of these for my son.
They are new but I love my Eufy vacuum and would definitely trust this...

.
How about a self-mowing robotic one?
A friend has one and it's great!
(I've had a Roomba robotic carpet vacuum cleaner that works well - although my GSD's run away from it!!)
.
Thank you Luckygirl
Why don’t you consider a “robot” mower, they are a bit more expensive, but once set up the do a great job, both my daughters have one, one has a large but flat lawn the other has a little smaller but on a slope lawn, they cope brilliantly and I’m sure your son in law would help set them up for you.

I have a Greenworks rechargeable battery mower. It's fine on my back grass which is fairly flat but it complains bitterly when I'm doing the front, which is thick and rather lumpy. It's just 'not man enough' for the job.
This is my experience as well. rechargeable battery mowers are lacking in 'wellie' and have a hissy fit if you try cut grass that is more than a couple of inches high and on anything less smooth and even thaan a bowling green.
We have a petrol motor mower and it is marvellous, back orf ront large lawn or small.
Let the person who does the mowing choose the mower.
I've had a Bosch battery one for 4 years. I have two batteries as I have a fair amount of grass to cut. Machine is light, I turn it on it's side everytime I finish and use a stiff brush to give it a clean. There are loads on the market, think Aldi had one last week for £79.99 and people seem really pleased with it. Shop around.
I also have a cordless Spear & Jackson. I see Argos at the moment have a good offer on as it includes a grass trimmer too. Both with a 3 year guarantee.

I have also heard that hover lawn mowers are supposed to be good too but I've never used one.
I have a Ryobi cordless. It's on sturdy wheels so can be pushed around easily, but is very lightweight so I can pick it up if necessary. It's generally very easy to use, the only real problem is getting the battery in and out as it's quite big for my hands - I can only just stretch my hands over the top.

I'm a bit late to the thread, BUT if it's any help, LIDL have robot lawn mowers at £199 just now, I saw the advert yesterday while I was in there.
I have a Flymo EasyLife Go 250 - the 250 refers to the square meterage of my lawn - you can get bigger or smaller.
There is a thin guide wire that you put round the area you wish to mow, about 6 inches away from the flower borders. It mows up to the border then turns itself round and trots off in another direction. The wire is staked in with little stakes which embed themselves in the grass along with the wire. It is fascinating to watch at it seems to be mowing randomly but it all gets done.
There is an app for my phone from which I can set schedules for mowing. At present I have it mowing every other day between 9am to 10pm - it pottles around on and off all day, taking itself off to its dock to recharge. This is what they recommend during the summer.
The lawn looks great. Because it is being mown so frequently the trimmings (which are tiny) just drop back onto the grass and feed it.
I have become quite attached to "Dave"..... I will miss him in the winter ......
We were thinking about a robot mower but our lawn has flower borders. What does the mower do when it comes to a flower border?
Careful which brand you buy, many cheap mowers are expected to last one season, then be discarded, thereforew no spare parts or service available. However, depending on how you look after it they can last a few years.
I have a brand new robot mower- it is brilliant and saves bothering/paying others to mow the grass.
Apparently Aldi have a robot mower on special offer on line, any use?
