New visitor to my garden!

I had a family of badgers that broke into my garden last summer. They clawed their way in through a fence, dug and uprooted a whole bed of vegetables, broke into the greenhouse, demolishing the shelving in the process and broke all the tomato and cucumber plants, knocked over the box of fat balls for the birds, ate the lot and then broke the garden gate by clawing their way out. And before they departed they pooed pretty much everywhere the stench was unbelievable

We have a badger that eats the bulbs from the pots.

I agree Allira squirrels will eat tulip bulbs. A landscape gardener told me she planted 1000 tulip bulbs only to have most of them eaten by squirrels. I don’t think they actually eat the greenery. Deer definitely will though. Not sure about a hares.

Do you have squirrels? We don't have muntjacs or hares here.

I've only seen hares once, years ago when we were camping. 🙂
There are deer around here but they haven't invaded our gardens yet.

I adore hares. DH bought me a chain saw cut wooden one, which I keep in my porch.
I once watched a Vet programme, where someone brought a tame hare into the surgery. It was called Heather and all the staff came to see it, as they’d never seen one up close.
I’ve a couple of moon-watching hare ornaments in my garden and a pair of metal ones which appear to be ‘boxing’.

Magenta8 I listened to it, I think when I was recovering from the riding accident I had last year. It's a really beautiful and uplifting story. I was so delighted that the hare came back to have her young!
Politics and the news generally is so depressing ATM but the world outside my window helps to keep me sane!

Carlotta, your story has reminded me of the time a friend’s son set up camp for him and his children in their back garden. In the middle of the night they were very rudely awoken by the VERY angry buzzing of several miner bees, who had nested underneath! The bees won and the campers evacuated the tent and went indoors!

Hares are the most fabulously beautiful animals aren't they! I'm always ridiculously happy when I see one.

This week, I found a series of small hillock in my garden; about 2 inches across and about 1 inch high. Every one of them has a perfectly symmetrical hole in the top; a bit like a tiny volcano. As I stood looking at them, a bee wriggled up from inside and flew off. Apparently they're Solitary Miner bees, don't sting but are excellent pollinators. Their nest is wonderful to see.
