I know two , who have resin coated their drives and it looks brilliant. I would imagine you could get coloured resin .

There is a product called Stonelux, which is paint for stone. I had it put on an old stone fireplace, and it made a huge difference. The fireplace had been boxed in, and there were scratches and filled bits where there must once have been hanging rails or something, and it was a mess, but a lovely feature in the kitchen. The decorator covered it in Stonelux and it looks great. The paint has bits of stone in it, so it doesn't look painted and is rough, rather than glossy, and the coverage is very good. All the marks and filled bits are hidden. It was done a couple of years ago and is good as new.

It is expensive though. A small tin for a fireplace cost a bit, and enough to cover a patio would be very costly, plus you'd have to pay someone to do it. But it would look good, and AFAIK it is suitable for indoor or outdoor use.
