What is taking the leaves off my hostas?

Could be any sort of wildlife rabbits deer or even slugs could do this. I believe there is a certain type of caterpillar that could inflict this damage. I keep my pots off the ground by putting bricks underneath. Also a dose of slug pellets. They are doing well this year so far.

Something is taking the leaves off our hostas. It's not making holes in the leaves like slugs do but actually removing the leaves either from the stems or straight across the leaves.

It's very clever but I wish they wouldn't.
