Just that really! The bush/plant in question used to be a tall houseplant, but my son thought it should go outside as it was getting quite tall. It has been moderately unhappy and produced a few sad leaves, Bute has now died. I chopped it right down to the grass area and it has a horrible smell, so I think it is diseases. My question is, how do I get the stump out which is deeply imbedded. I’m worried it might be toxic I have two grandchildren. I cannot dig it up myself as it is firmly entrenched. How much would it boost to be
be removed by a professional?

I think have to ask a Tree/gardening company for an estimate to grind the stump out as costs will vary in different circumstances.

There are tree stump killer products for sale on Ebay, some glyphosate based and others not. I successfully used one years ago, but I am afraid I don't remember the brand or type.

If it was a houseplant- is it really a tree ? How many years has that taken?
Couldn’t you son dig it out for you?

How long has it been out in the garden?

If you’ve managed to cut it down to grass level you could just cover the roots with a large paving slab.

I’m also curious to know what it is.

It cost me £200 a few years ago to have a tree root ground out .
It was several months before small roots stopped appearing in the ground.
