Help! which plant is this?

It looks like a hosta to me.

Not sure until it unfurls !
I also have mystery plant which I'm not sure about .
I've put it in a pot until it blooms .

Are they bulbs? Tulip or lily perhaps? It looks as though there may be a bud hiding in the middle so you'll soon know with a bit of luck.

I enlarged the photo and looked at the largest leaf. The veining on it is very hosta like.

Do you use google on your phone? Just to the right of the bar in which you write your search there are tow icons, one a mic for recording and the other a little square with rounded corners and a dot in the middle - that is Google Lens. If you click on that a camera screen appears that you can use to photograph the plant and it then goes on to give you detailed information about the plant. It is very helpful when deciding which are weeds and which are not!

I don't think it is pointy enough and the leaves look too wide for lily of the valley. Could be some other sort of lily.

Please post a picture on GN when it finally emerges. I hope the slugs don't get to it first.

I’ve got several hostas in stone pots Luckygirl, the slugs don’t like the rough texture, so they stay slug free.

I thought I recognised what they were, because my hostas are at exactly the same stage, with the leaves curled up ready to unfurl.

Lovely hosta, will thrive in damp shade. As do slugs! Start keeping and crushing your egg shells Wyllow3.
Gotta love a free plant, I am finding a few Ladie's Bonnets and Lady's Mantle popping up at the moment, thrilling!

Slug and snail pellets!

Modern ones aren't lethal to pets and birds...

I put gravel around my Hostas, then spray with garlic water ( doesn’t leave a smell).
I make garlic water by putting a couple of crushed garlic cloves in water, leave for a bit and then spray. A litre lasts all season.

I think it’s a hosta. I saw a reel on Instagram ( Anya the Garden Fairy) this morning which said the leaves are edible ……

I have a long row in a shady spot, they do get nibbled a bit but seem to do fine and flower each year. We do have a hedgehog which visits regularly, perhaps she keeps the slugs and snails down!

Well either way will pop in some organic slug pellets.

Oh, I didn't know about coffee grounds, I have always wanted to find a use for them. Are there no snags as regards using them?

Will do search later I want to use it for a few things! In and out right now, but here is looking down the plant and its not really helpful.

Yes the mystery plant looks like a hosta but not many stalks coming up as yet.
