What was the first record you bought?

Mine was 'Roulette' by Russ Conway. Not very proud of that!

sorry can't remember the name of the cafe, but it sounds like the one your describing my son lives up in alnwick and everytime i go up there we go to that cafe for our fish and chips sometimes we sit on the pier if it is warm if its cold we sit inside

cathysclown48, what`s the cafe in Amble called? We had our lunch in one, but didn`t have fish and chips, although they were on the menu. It was on the end, not far from the tourist information centre. A bit shabby, but the food was good.

cathysclown48 Thu 24-Jan-13 22:27:22

the best fish and chips are from amble gillybob its just a small cafe, you can sit in the car and eat them looking out to sea or in the cafe itself they are yummy

I was trying to think of the name of the other one numberplease ! Yes Neptune that's it. I always found that one to be the nicest too. smile

numberplease Thu 24-Jan-13 00:24:51

We didn`t really rate Pinnacles, tried them all, found Neptune to be the best. Went through Belford a few times, never saw a chippie.

Jimmy Young! I love his records, especially Man from Laramie, and Unchained Melody. Also Love is Blue.

I loved Halfway to Paradise, but it was years before I had a copy of it. Billy Fury went far too soon.

Ana Wed 23-Jan-13 21:13:39

Yes he is, he's 91! smile

Bruha Wed 23-Jan-13 21:09:55

Jimmy Young Unchanged Melody Is he still alive

Goose Wed 23-Jan-13 18:26:35

'Half Way To Paradise' Billy Fury (cost me 6/8d).

Tegan Wed 23-Jan-13 18:05:30

Pinnacles isn't as good as it was [but still the best]. No chippy in Bamburgh sad. Yes; it was a magical day. They wanted a 'wedding for people that weren't really into weddings' so there was lots of cricket on the beach and stuff like that.

gillybob Wed 23-Jan-13 17:50:52

I was thinking about the fish and chips in Seahouses not Bamburgh numberplease My mouth is watering again ! grin

I bet the photographs were amazing Tegan

Tegan Wed 23-Jan-13 16:49:12

The best chippie in the area is at Belford, slightly inland wink....

numberplease Wed 23-Jan-13 16:30:14

I love Seahouses and the surrounding area, beautiful. Never had fish and chips in Bamburgh, but there`s some good grub to be had in Seahouses!
Talking about songs bringing back memories, our first visit to Turkey was in 1993, and the song that was being played all the time in our hotel was Would I Lie to You Babe? by Brian and Eddie. Don`t hear it often now, but when I do I think of that holiday.

Tegan Wed 23-Jan-13 00:16:54

My daughter got married at the castle. Happy day!

gillybob Tue 22-Jan-13 23:37:43

Yes me too Glass.Definitely the best beaches in the UK . Perfect soft sand stretching for miles and miles with that beautiful fairy tale castle in the background. Not to mention the fish and chips ! Heaven. smile

glassortwo Tue 22-Jan-13 23:32:07

sad I love it up there.

gillybob Tue 22-Jan-13 23:30:43

We had a caravan in Seahouses up until 2 years ago that we had to sell to keep the business afloat. I still miss it terribly. DH still visits often but I cannot bring myself to go as it makes me feel so very sad. sad

glassortwo Tue 22-Jan-13 23:22:34

Bamburgh brings back fond memories for me too. smile

gillybob Tue 22-Jan-13 23:21:18

It brings back happy memories for me too Glass although the furthest I go on my school trips were Bamburgh and Seahouses ! grin

glassortwo Tue 22-Jan-13 23:17:13

Sugar Sugar was the record that was played everywhere the year I went to Austria with the school, it was the first school holiday I had been on, so every time I hear it it brings back some good memories.

gillybob Tue 22-Jan-13 23:13:40

RE Russ Conway-I had a crush on him when I was about 10 or so-I thought he was so handsome and clever! and I too had a Dansette-the first EP I actually owned-given to me by my parents was The Nutcracker Suite which still makes me feel like that child whenever I hear it. fsmile
