1969 moon landing.

I was a schoolgirl of 14. I wasn't allowed to stay up to watch it.

LadyGracie The date on the original post is July 2019, so when the thread was started, it was 50 years. The thread went quiet after a bit, was posted on again in March 2020 for a while, then nothing until a couple of days ago.

51 years! I was married 50 years ago in 1970.

I think everyone ignores anything I write!

Cape Kennedy was changed back to Cape Canaveral but the launches are still from the Kennedy Space Centre.

I was 17 living in Malaysia with my parents. Those were the days!

I was 9. Dad woke us up to watch.

I sat in my MILs sitting room with my first daughter 4 mths old on my lap. I was dumbfounded and very excited we sat there for hours.

I was 4 and remember getting up in the night, seeing my dad watching this strange thing on TV.

For years afterwards, I couldn't make sense of it. There WAS no TV at night then and I decided I'd imagined it. But of course, eventually I realised. It was the moon landing.

ps We had a black and white tv.

We'd just bought our first house so I may have been stripping wallpaper, in between starting a new job and looking after Australian visitors.

I was on holiday in a little place called Caersws in mid Wales the very first time I had been allowed to take my girlfriend (16) away, they did have TV.

I was pregnant with my son and we went to a friends house and watched it on the telly.

I was 11 and can clearly remember sitting on a bank with my friend, oddly considering my age,we were looking at the moon to see if we could see anything.

I was 7 months pregnant with my 4th child, and sat up all night with my husband, who was kept busy dealing with a wicklow on my thumb, and it was so painful it was more memorable than the moon landing.

I was 6 and didn't believe it

I was 15 and at school. I remember that it was discussed in the geography, history and science lessons. I didn't know it at the time but the man who was to become my DH had flown out to the States to watch lift off.

It was two days before my 12th birthday. My little sisterwas 3. I remember her being put to bed and my Dad saying he would wake me up in the night so that we could watch it together. And he did, and we did. I felt so grown up!

I'd broken up from Primary school for the Summer and was staying with my grandparents

Was glued to the tv at home, it was such an exciting event,
All the effort and expertise to get men to the moon, what a marvellous step ( leap! For mankind.)

Oh no ...senior moment ...she was 5 months old ?

At my mum's house, and pregnant with my eldest.

Home with a new baby. It was surreal.
