Update for anyone else thinking of applying for service records. It has taken just over five months! Any longer and I suppose the cheque would have been invalid.

Thank you jusnoneed. I have either not read that or forgotten! Two and a half months could be early days then.

It does say on the Gov.uk website that it can take several months to receive records. Maybe give them another week or two and then contact to check.

That seems quick Pippa000. It is for a more distant relative in my case so I don't know if that makes a difference.

I got my fathers back in about 4 weeks, however there was a comments that they may not be complete because of the Official Secrets Act !

Thanks. I was thinking the same thing.

I'd contact them again if I was you, 10 weeks without cashing the cheque seems an awfully long time, it's possible they never got it.

Has anyone sent for service records and can give me an idea of how long they take to come? I've waited about 10 weeks so far and my cheque has not been cashed yet.
