Hi Everyone,

My friends have always called me Ax because I play guitar. A guitar is nicknamed an Ax, and a guitar player is an Ax Slinger. As a teenager the Slinger part got dropped, in spite of my protests that an Ax is an object, and a Slinger is a person, and I have always known as Ax.

I played guitar in a Blues band I started as both a way to play live and make a living without any intention to have any dealings with the recording industry. If I wanted to get robbed, there's easier ways to do it than working your life away for a corporation that takes most of your money.

Over the course of my life I have taken several great Cross Country Bicycling trips and riding every day for exercise for many years, totaling over 100,000 miles. I rode almost 30,000 miles riding 10 to 20 miles a day for exercise to help keep my diabetes in check, which worked fabulously. For 6 years my A1c was in the "Coveted 5% Club" (the 5% range). My longest single trip was 7,500 miles with my Army buddy after we got out of the Army. That was the first of many great trips, though none were quite that long.

Anyway, I just wanted to say Hello.

Hello Biker. What an interesting life! Your memories are wonderful. I hope others give you a more positive welcome than M0nica. I have never seen a rule that says you have to join via chat. What counts is an interesting post.
As a fellow diabetic I am impressed that exercise has helped to control your diabetes. A 7.5k trip is just incredible. Was that in the US?

Hello Biker, I used to cycle everywhere in my younger days. Unfortunately my knees don't like cycling any more. I would have loved to do more, and take longer trips but life, career and motherhood got in the way. Well done keeping your diabetes under control by means of exercise keep up the good work.
