Well, I think grin that he's been sanding down paintwork prior to painting.

I, on the other hand, have been gallivanting!

He then 'helped me' cook dinner.
(I was exhausted from my gallivanting)

This one paints doors, and more doors and more doors .......

He’s in sole charge of outdoors - garden, allotment, rubbish, football with the DGS. He’s discovered his inner chef since he retired, so does most of the cooking and all the hot beverages. He vacs, he does the tiny bit of ironing we still do, He threatens things that need fixing with his hammer. And when he’s finished his chores, he’s got his Northern Soul, his Pop Master, his swimming, his football, whatever other sport crops up and his paper. As well as all the wonderful things he shares with me, of course. smile

Doors are finished, last one hung this morning (or are doors hanged ?)

Plays golf, comes home and watches golf videos on YouTube, cos obviously playing it is just not enough grin Other than that he's perfect, the golf is not all the time, today for instance we are going out for the day and lunching somewhere or other.

The resident grandpa here is still working intermittently. when not doing that he is pottering round the house and shed, mending anything that breaks, going to auctions to buy stock for our antique stall, repairing and restoring said buys, singing and directing operas, sleeping, watching antique programmes on the telly, he says to keep abreast of prices and trends, but he often does this with his eyes shut, while breathing heavily grin

Still works. Also teaches GC electronics and other technical stuff - that is proving useful although the mess trail might lead you believe otherwise grin

The Grandad here set up another business to start the day after he 'retired'! He's out of the house even earlier than he used to. It's a business but it's a formalised version of a hobby so he's a very happy man sunshine

Jalima1108 Fri 06-Apr-18 15:09:38

He's researching history and creating a powerpoint presentation - he keeps testing my history by asking me questions and sounds surprised when I know the answers grin
At the moment he is having 'a think' with his eyes shut and is snoring gently at the same time. Multi-tasking.

Having finished her "to do list" I am now bored and ;looking for new project.

Jalima1108 Mon 09-Apr-18 12:42:56

That's always a dangerous state to be in Wb - boredom!

GrandadShaggy Thu 04-Jul-19 13:18:34

This Grandad runs a business ( with his long suffering wife) and looks forward to downtimes when he can mess about with his kids and grandkids smile

Maggiemaybe Thu 04-Jul-19 13:33:17

Well I’ve enjoyed reading through this thread, though it’s a bit worrying that I didn’t recognise it from last year even when I got to my own contribution!

GrandadShaggy Thu 04-Jul-19 13:53:20

Haha ?

Maggiemaybe Thu 04-Jul-19 13:58:22

I forgot to say - if you’re new, GrandadShaggy, welcome to Gransnet! smile

GrandadShaggy Thu 04-Jul-19 14:07:24

Brand shiny new..

And thankyou, Maggie smile

Well mine is still working - not full time, and it varies from month to month. Two visits to Belgium in June and desk time when home, directs operas, goes to auctions buying stock for our antiques stall, mending things; antiques, household items, watches Montalbana. He has also spent much of the last two years designing and redesigning a planned extension. We live in a listed building and the planners are very picky.

Apart from that, not much!!

MOnica; You've destroyed my self-confidence and not done much for my inferiority complex, either. Where have I been during my 30 years of retirement? sad

M0nica Tue 09-Jul-19 11:55:41

Rufus, I think you have a head start. DH is only 75.

Sits on the computer most of the afternoon drooling over steam engines, trams, railways in general, steam boats, you name it. Mind you, he has had some of his very precious photographs reproduced in specialist bookssmile
