Heard a song this evening from my sons bedroom reminded me of a couple of songs my mother played over and over.
Seasons in the sun many a Sunday morning by Terry Jacks
My sweet Lord by George Harrison.
Interested if you can remember music from your parents played regularly, albums or singles.

Neither of my parents listened to music other than whatever came on the radio

Terry Jacks was 1973!

My mum's favourite was Bobby Goldsboro singing Honey. She used to cry thinking about dad.

I grew up to the sound of Glenn Miller and I can still singalong (or humalong in some cases) to 'Chatanooga Choochoo', 'Little Brown Jug', 'Pennsylvania 6-5000', 'Moonlight Serenade', 'String of Pearls'.... haven't heard them for years now but the first beat can bring my Dad back to me. A good thing really but he only died three months ago so a bit sad too.

The carpenters, 'Close to you'.
My mum would jokingly sing some of the words to dad, but thinking about it now, she really meant them. smile
Lots and lots of music in our house; we always had the radio on.

I used to like "The age of aquarius" and the one about the lightening tree, and the green green grass of home.

EllanVannin. I still have the 45 rpm “Honey”with “Danny” on the flip side. I listened to them all the time when awaiting my first baby!

As for my parents, they loved musicals, so I grew up somewhere between Oklahoma! and South Pacific!

We're having fun, sitting in the backseat, kissing and hugging with Fred.

I would have played My Sweet Lord not my parents!
My parents were Irish so they liked a lot of Irish music. My mother loved Michael Holiday, Jim Reeves, Bing Crosby, Perry Como and Mario Lanza. Whenever I hear Magic Moments I think of her.

My parents both liked The Seekers and Val Doonican. We used to watch Val's television show every week.
Dad also really liked Nana Mouskouri but Mum used to be rude about her; Mum was a very jealous woman I realised as I grew older ?

My Dad was a great lover of Glenn Miller and String of Pearls was a def favourite.

My dad was a Glen Miller fan as well,"In the mood" echoed around our house along with Keneth Mackellar singing Rabbie Burns "My love is like a red red rose".
Mum was always on the" Isle of Capri" and "Take you home again Kathleen".

DH’s father was a huge fan of Shirley Bassey.
When she was on a TV show he would move his chair closer to the screen and ask everyone to ‘shushh’.

My Mum and Dad loved Mary’s Boy Child by Harry Belafonte and whenever I hear it I think of them, sadly not very often after Boney M made their version. Mum loved anything by Jim Reeves and Dad loved anything by Alma Cogan or Ruby Murray. As pop music came in they liked The Bachelors, Dad liked You’re My World by Cilla Black and Mum loved Yesterday by The Beatles.

I grew up listening to Herb Alpert, Perry Como, Glenn Miller and Elvis. They were my parents favourites. In later years mum absolutely adored Queen and Freddy Mercury. I can still hear dad singing Magic Moments.

Some of you must be very young!
My mum liked Magic Moments. They used to play it in Woolworths a lot.
My dad liked Mrs Mills or Russ Conway on the piano. He also liked a song called 'Tammy' and bought the 45rpm for our Dansette.
I came in at Elvis.
