New grandchild in 2013?

I know there are a few of us in happy anticipation of a new grandchild this year. My daughter's baby is due in February and she's chosen NOT to know the gender; although names for either have been chosen and I do like them both very much. I am very excited at the prospect of being present at the birth, as I was with daughter's first baby - and happily my lovely son in law is glad to share the experience.
Who else is an expectant gran/grandfather?

All is well , mother and son are both fine, baby was 7lb 7oz no name as yet I'm just relieved all is well... thankyou ladies for bearing with me. I think my son is shell shocked by the emergency cesarean but it happens . My youngest grandson is 15 today so they will share a birthday.

I know my son is a bad communicator where family are concerned but he could let me know time, weight that both are ok ... oh my I could cheerfully strangle him sometimes.. and breathe................

annodomini Thu 27-Jun-13 14:39:15

Good news so far, then tanith. Hope all becomes clear very soon. flowers for all.

'A boy born by cesarean ring you later'... thats the text just received.. I hope all is well with them both... I'll let you know when I know..

Nelliemoser Thu 27-Jun-13 14:05:29

Tanith I hope all goes well. When my DD went into labour with first baby she rang me to say she was going in at about 12:30pm. 4hrs later she rang to say DGS had been born after 3hrs in hospital. I had been out and had not even thought he would have been born that quickly so I had not got too anxious.

nonnasusie Thu 27-Jun-13 13:56:14

I've got to wait until December for my latest GC!! DD expecting sometime round 8th Dec (her 2nd). Don't know the sex yet but don't care as long as it is healthy!! We already have 3 GD's so another won't matter!! I will see the new one at Christmas!!grin

janeainsworth Thu 27-Jun-13 13:16:05

Thinking of you tanith - I know it's hard to be far away , but once you get there and hold the little one in your arms all that anxiety will seem nothing compared to the love you feel sunshine
We are lucky that our American DiL and her family really try to make us feel included with our DGCs and I hope your DiL does the same for you.

Oooooohhhh! tanith let us know. wine

annodomini Thu 27-Jun-13 13:01:03

Exciting for you, tanith. I hope for everyone's sakes it's not a long labour. Keep us posted! smile

tanith Thu 27-Jun-13 12:49:29

So excited as got a text at 6am to say baby is on its way.. its been nearly 7 hours now and I am itching to text and ask how its going but don't want to disturb them at this really special time.. as its their first baby it could be hours/days.. they'll let me know when there is news I'm sad that I'm so far away as I've seen all my other grandchildren really soon after the birth... but hey ho I knew I was going to feel 'out of the loop' so have tried to prepare myself not to be disappointed/upset , so far I'm doing well BUT I SO WANT TO KNOW EVERY LITTLE DETAIL.......... keep busy that's the answer. Off to make some pea soup...

Congratulations Sook how lovely. and hope your new grandchild arrives safe and sound nanmacatj..

Our newest grandchild is due on Friday to our son and partner and its our current youngest grandson's 15th birthday on Thursday so a busy week...spoke to our son and partner tonight and they are just playing a waiting game now all is ready our son sounds really nervous ( their first child and they live abroad) I told him to stay calm and trust the midwives to know what they are doing.

Can't wait to jump on a plane to go and meet this new grandchild , the flights for the next two months are soooooooo expensive but hopefully we can find a short notice flight that I can afford fingers crossed.
