Please pray for us as a family

It has been a rough road this past year

As many of you know 3 family members bereavements including my baby Granddaughter at 37 weeks into my older DD's pregnancy

My younger DD becoming an alcoholic before my very eyes which has been sad and heart breaking with my GS in foster care for 9 months , even MORE heart breaking as he is an innocent child in this , with Autism

DD turned up 'under the influence' today for her visit with him , difficult visit , am sure observations were noticed as she is a different person when sober but 9 months in she is still drinking and needs more intense help now

The social worker is coming to look at my assesment again on Thursday re me caring for my GS full time and I am praying it goes well

It is so important to me and I am asking for your prayers

I feel he will be happy , secure and content with me xx

Plus I love him to the moon and beyond!!! x

Thanks for the exciting update nannynoo. I am so thrilled that things are finally coming together for you and your grandson

rosequartz Wed 13-May-15 17:13:10

I hope you have a lovely time with your DGS nannynoo

I notice you have taken your photos down, I think that is a good idea.
I also see that you are a very young granny (about the same age as some mums) so you will have plenty of energy to keep up with the DGC

smile

All set for tomorrow!!! grin grin grin

It has all been approved and finalised including transport to school smile

I am going to have him for 5 nights!!! I feel like crying but in a good way..

All prepared and set , the garden is done and is looking SO lovely , have put astro turf down , we built the wendy house and trampoline at the weekend and there is a ball pit , sand and water table , slide and see saw!

Plus a kiddies seating area with their own parasol , windmills which spin in the wind and a wall fountain with the soothing sound of water plus some tinkling wind chimes , it is so peaceful and beautiful out there and at dusk the solar lights come on all along the bedding areas plus some flashing multicoloured ones on the fencing plus the see saw lights up too!!!

I had a colourful childrens parachute which I put up in a corner of the garden as an added sun shade

If it was going to be really warm I would have got the paddling pool out but might save that for the future

Have a big box of porridge oats as he was asking for ''Nannys porridge'' lol and am making him his favourite = macaroni cheese and am adding ham and broccoli to it

Am going to make him a fruit salad and some special ice cream you whip up in the blender just using frozen fruits and youghurt!

I have some special 'sundae' dishes and a long spoon for him to eat the ice cream with and am SO EXCITED my heart feels like it is going to burst! lol

I know there are going to be sweet , sweet moments over the whole 5 days , it will be like a little holiday for him like we used to have together!! smile xx

Thank you for all your well wishes , prayers and positive support!! x

They are indeed cousins smile

My older DD and SIL have the 3 year old , they lost their baby little girl last August so am hoping we will have some more good news soon as my DD is currently studying at home to become a teacher

Everything is going better , it feels like it is anyway!

We planted the dwarf sunflowers today and my GS took a pot with him , I bought one home with me and the contact centre kept one so he and the other children can watch them grow there too! smile smile

I have a passion for children especially children with special needs , My DGS has opened up a whole new world to me and it is an amazingly beautiful world and I love it , want to help him develop in any way I can and support him in persuing his interests and reaching his full potential in life and it is an incentive to keep myself well as I want to be around for as long as possible!

I used to take SO much for granted , the freedom to see and be with my Grandchildren whenever I wanted and now to be 'granted' time with my GS feels like I have won the lottery! lol

And to have him full time will be like hitting the highest jackpot ever!!

I never envisaged that I would be ''allowed'' 4 nights with my DGS when before I had him freely with me for weeks at a time , took him on holiday abroad just me and him , had him over for weekends , school holidays etc with no restrictions and NOW it feels like a LUXURY to be able to have him but I am indeed SO grateful and so thankful to the SW for even thinking of me when it comes to having him as it is an absolute breakthrough and priviledge to be granted this as it is precious to even get 2 hours a week with him , especially on my own

I have never had to deal with anything like this in my life ie SW involvement , contact centres , assessments , foster carers , courts etc but it is all for my DGS sake so it is all worth it , to see him happy and secure and in the family again will be so joyous , especially after all the pain and he has been through enough separation as well and was thinking today after the visit next week which I hope will go ahead there will be only about 10 more weeks of separation if things hopefully do go well and I can live with that even though it certainly would have been a tough year I am actually grateful for that too as many children end up in foster care for longer eg 3 years and I honestly do not think I would be able to cope with that as a year would have been long enough for me xx

I feel a year would be long enough for my DGS too!!!!! <3 x

nannynoo your grandchildren are indeed gorgeous and I can well understand your desire to have your lovely DGS live with you, but are you wise to direct us to their photos and give so much detail about where you live?

You've written from the heart about your DDs problems but I'm concerned that you are making yourself, and your family, identifiable.

The best of luck and positive thoughts towards you Nannynoo. I can't pray in the usual sense of the word but I'm convinced that good comes out of good and with your support your DD and GS will benefit from your love. Let's hope for lots of mess in that room! xx

bikergran Fri 08-May-15 20:45:45

Good luck with everything nanny we that have our GC take things for granted at times, your gs is a handsome looking lad and your gd beautiful, I'm sure you wouldn't be complaining id they messed the room up smile

Maggiemaybe Fri 08-May-15 20:37:23

Lovely pictures, nannynoo. Your GC are very cute and the plans for next week sound lovely. smile

TriciaF Fri 08-May-15 13:42:57

I've just looked at your pictures too - lovely!
I can understand how protective you feel towards your grandson - families with autistic children often seem to love them more intensely than the others (I used to work with families like yours.)
Hoping and praying you get to have him to stay and it goes well.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 07-May-15 19:20:56

Cousins?

Ana Thu 07-May-15 19:17:33

Are they brother and sister, Nannynoo? Sorry, I'm getting a bit confused, I hadn't realised you had more than one grandchild. Where is the little girl living?

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 07-May-15 19:14:56

Ooh! That all looks really nice. Specially the cute little kids. And the puppy! smile

nannynoo Thu 07-May-15 19:13:20

Their bedroom has been sitting empty for 8 months , my little Granddaughter has stayed over for one fabulous night with more to come I reckon , but in UK (unless a certain political party get in today ) I have been paying £88 per month for an empty room sad

Sometimes I couldn't even go in there and other times it cheered me up

I NEED THAT ROOM FILLED! lol

It needs to be throughtly messed up wink LOL x

nannynoo Thu 07-May-15 19:03:37

nightowl Thu 07-May-15 16:39:36

Wonderful news nannynoo! Definitely moving in the right direction now x

nannynoo Thu 07-May-15 16:34:47

Have some news!!! smile smile smile

It is a step in the right direction but still keep PRAYING for me please!!!

The SW rang today and said they had had a word with the foster carer and as she is new to it she did not know the implications of having her niece around my GS even if sober so she apologised and said it won't happen again smile

THEN the SW said the foster carer is going away for 4 nights with just adults and the SW does not want my GS placed with a stranger for those nights so she needs it cleared by management but she has asked if I can have him for the 4 nights!!! smile

It really is a step in the right direction so I so hope it is a yes ..

It's weird because I have been 'preparing things' my end and not quite sure why , but now I know - The garden will be finished on Sunday and before the SW called I got out a 7'' tablet I had in the cupboard for months for my GS and decided to download all his favourite songs and apps etc on it and it is so weird I had the feeling to do that after all this time and then I got the call

Had also been looking into local days out last night!

I found a lovely walk by the river just 15 mins away by bus we can do so he can watch the boats go by which he loves and there is also a lovely 'physic' garden to explore with a lovely cafe which I am hoping sell ice creams as I have been yearning to do the simple things like buy him and ice cream , give him his bath , get him into his PJ's and tuck him up in bed with stories ...

It is NEXT WEEK and I have a calm joyous smile inside which will become real smiles when they hopefully say yes! smile

This is just the treat me and him needs , was in tears yesterday as I miss him ALL the time but sometimes it gets too much and I have to have a cry and get the pain out , so this is a joyous thing to happen as I was saying I can't take missing him anymore while I was crying!!

It is such a step in the right direction and everything ( including me! lol ) is SO ready and I will get him to help me give the puppy a bath on the Friday evening , then his bath and PJ time and the next day a lovely walk by the river and then around the pretty gardens and ending up at the cafe smile if allowed on Sunday a couple of CLOSE relatives can pop round just for a couple of hours as don't want to overwhelm him but it will be SO good for him to get used to ''Nannys new house'' which is what the SW said too and he can finally have some of ''NANNYS PORRIDGE'' which he has been asking for and I feel like crying in the good way so please pray all goes well for me and this is the start of good things to come! sunshinegrin x
