What good news. Enjoy.
I'm so pleased for you, nannynoo.
What a lucky boy he is.
I'm so glad to hear your news nannynoo. You've proved that you're the right person to bring up your dear little grandson.
Love and best wishes to both of you.
Pleased for you nannynoo.
Great news! Happy for both of you.
Great news,
Wonderful news nannynoo
can comment at last nannynoo fought through the high court for 6 long years never really sure if GD was staying with me for all that time...stressful ...enjoy your little man GD is now 16 she was 4 at the time .....
Oh nannynoo I am so so happy for you, what absolutely fantastic news. You must be on Cloud Nine. Your sheer happiness and excitement just shines through - I can almost see you jumping for joy! Congratulations on getting what you've fought so hard and long to achieve. Lucky little grandson .
Thank you all so much , been finding myself singing and dancing more , just naturally now
I need to do ONE more visit with my GS at the contact centre to have 'closure' day and say goodbye to the manager who supervises our contacts as a 'client' even though I will still see him again it will only be for a few minutes at a time on drop off and collection
I also want to have a chat with my DD about how hard she may find it now as I won't be 'available' to her much or be able to do stuff together like we did before so there is a different situation between us now and I want to ask her how she feels about it and prepare her for it
I do also want to genuinely THANK the foster carer for all her hard work with my GS ( which I will soon find out how hard it is! ) and not leave it with any bad feelings if POSSIBLE but I do want to say thank you and I mean it even if she does not want to hear it
Am sure my DD will thank her as well and she has no hard feelings too
I need to let go of the past and move on into the new , have been doing the little things I need to get out of the way before my GS gets here and still have plenty to do as always lol like some weeding , putting up some black out fabric at his window as it is very bright in the mornings which means he is an early waker even though it may not make a 'blind' bit of difference! lol
Plus I want to cook his favourite dinner = Cauliflower cheese and freeze it for him ready to have for his dinner on the day I get him as it will be a busy one!! Am going to make a fish pie which he loves and freeze it as well as I intend to batch cook sometimes all his favourites so on the busy days he has a home cooked meal which I have already cooked
I want to be as organised as possible but also feel some of it will of course be 'play it by ear' and do what 'feels right' for him as I do not want him 'overwhelmed' by too much activity etc , he needs to settle in gently as he has been through a lot emotionally and I want him to have a 'soft place to land' as they say and feel secure and settled here and take all the time he needs to do so
I have all the local kids already looking forward to befriending him which is so sweet and nice but he will still need some 'quiet time' and 'just Nanny , him and the dog time' and we have a lovely holiday in a countryside cottage coming up as well as him seeing the rest of the family once he has settled in
It is so lovely he has been invited to a childrens party already and they have not even met him yet , they said he can go trick or treating with them which he has NEVER ever done even though he is nearly 8 years old , nor had friends in the neighbourhood ever so will be lovely for him to have some new friends outside school who will include him in their activities even though I will ALWAYS be with him plus therefore get to know all the kids as well which I am already doing , but I will pace it for him so he has a balanced stay here and is HAPPY
I think it is a LOVELY neighbourhood for him to be staying in though and for me as well of course! x
downtoearth , there is that worry at the back of my mind sometimes but I try not to worry , it is a tense time re an actual fully approved order but I DO believe it will come xx
Will just have to concentrate on doing my utter best for him , enjoying each day and knowing this is what is absolute best for him which am sure you knew all along for your GD and I am glad they did see it x
it sounds as if you have good times to look forward to. congratulations x
A couple of the adult neighbours know he is moving in with me and have been so lovely about it and are looking forward to meeting him!
The little girl who wants to take him trick or treating and has already invited him to her halloween party lol said she will try and understand what he wants ( due his Autism and lack of speech ) and she said she will teach him how to ride his bike without the stabilisers on!
They are touching my heart by including him already and it will be so good for him to mix with what they call neuro typical children ( as Autism is a neurological disorder ) as he only mixes with other special needs children at his school and like I said has NEVER had any friends outside of school as was never in a proper ( lovely ) neighbourhood!!
I can honestly see us out trick and treating with the local kids this year and it will be very good for ME too as have always wanted to feel part of the community here as I am fairly 'new'
Snippets of joy are everywhere now!! x
Wonderful news and so well deserved - Well done you
Wishing you lots of for a happier future for you and your GS, nannynoo
Fantastic!
Happy for you Nannynoo
My 7 month pup was neutered yesterday and is really suffering
Have been nursing him and comforting him plus giving him his pain meds , he seems to like going upstairs during the day and relaxing / sleeping with me on the bed and it is cooler and quieter up there so have actually been CATCHING UP ON SOME SLEEP which has been good for me so I can start day 1 with my GS rested and with full batteries so even though hard to watch my pup suffer it has happened at the right time as he needs to rest and recover and I need to rest and get my energy and resources ready for my GS
That's a pity, it's usually so easy for male dogs the problem is stopping them racing around and jumping. Maybe the heat combines with the anaesthetic to make him feel grim.
I don't want to sound like Mrs Mad Dog Lady (it's so hard not to) but it's great to read you've had it done nannynoo. Best for the dog and certainly will help make life easier for you and your much loved grandson
Hope he's feeling better soon, nannynoo. They don't usually show any ill effects once they've stopped looking like they're stoned. Poor puppy x
my poor 10 year old has just been spayed due to pyometra amongst other health problems .....she despite major surgery.and removal of 3 cancerous lumps elsewhere is full of beans ...mind you felt the same after my hysterectomy...perhaps the thought of having fun with out the consequences is appealing
Ahhhh he has perked up now thankfully , must have been the affects of the anaesthetic
He is barking at the storm and playing with his toys and begging for food so is pretty much back to normal lol
Just have to watch him constantly as he keeps licking his stitches even with his inflatable cone on which restricts him but not completely!!!
Is eating and drinking as normal and so happy he has perked up but I will still REST with him for the next 5 days as I want to start day 1 as refreshed as possible and not put too much pressure on myself as the couple of bits and pieces which still need doing can be done whilst my GS is here when he is at school and the fridge is full , the cupboards are full and the freezer/s are full so he is not going to starve lol
Everything pretty much in place already and I am glad my pup has taught me to take time out and REST as I usually hardly EVER 'allow' myself to have a nap and always just keep going but have been loving napping with my puppy in the afternoons , a real luxury and indulgence so I might as well make the most of it now I have the chance and start my new life refreshed!
The cone of shame doesn't always work well does it, plus I don't know about your pup but my dogs always seem to walk into door frames, table legs etc when wearing one. Other than when out for walks or toiletting, I put a pair of pants on my dog when she had stitches recently. Other friends use a baby grow or a t shirt instead of the cone.
Enjoy resting up
Thanks Iam64 I actually cut 2 holes in a pair of my GS's new boxers yesterday! lol One for his tail and one for his winkle so he can still go pee pee and as I can't always watch him like a hawk as in I have to go out on Tuesday and leave him alone I thought the pants would be a good idea to have on him for when I am out , then take them off and watch him like a hawk when I get back lol
Will probably keep them on him when I am busy and take them off when I can watch him and when it doesn't matter that I have 3 trays , a box and a bin blocking off the settee so he cannot hide from me and have a lick of his stitches under there! ( He keeps looking for places where he is out of sight and can have a lick!! lol )
Need to give it as much air as I possibly can I reckon but I think the pants idea is a life saver as I spent £10 on an inflatable cone which frankly does not work and yes he kept bumping into things bless him which he could well do without when grumpy already!! He seemed so relieved when I took it off and if I get it out and show it to him if he has been licking his stitches he runs away
