My granddaughter hates bundling up

My granddaughter lives with me because she goes to a private school that’s close to where I live. She’s usually really good about following my rules, but now that it’s getting cold again and I make her bundle up she always makes a fuss about it.
Today was a very cold day so when we went out to run errands I made my granddaughter dress warm. I had her wear snow pants, warm boots, two sweaters, a down jacket, and a long winter parka. I also made her wear mittens, a hat, a scarf, and her hoods up.
She got very upset that I made her dress warm, and she says she hates wearing her winter clothes to school. Does anyone know how to deal with something like this?

I've had the back door open because the house was too hot and needed airing.

I'm bundled up, vest, thick tights, wool trousers, cashmere jumper and cardigan topped off by long wool coat and warm boots! Only just above freezing here.

I hate being bundled up. I wear as little clothing as possible ....depending on where I am and who is with me grin. I can't stand my coat being fastened and it has to be absolutely freezing before I even consider gloves.

Yesterday, I saw a child coming out of school, taking her warm winter jacket off, handing to her mum and then skipping down the road in a thin short-sleeved Tshirt and clearly no extra layers underneath.

The temperature was about 5 degrees with a biting wind. shock

-2 here on Friday and GD danced out of school in a short sleeved shirt dragging her jacket on the ground, cardigan in her bag. When I asked why she wasn't wearing it I was told ,its NOT winter granny ...only autumn.

Oymyakon, Russia, is the coldest place on earth today at -50 so you'd probably need the amount of clothing OP is making her granddaughter wear. But if the poster is posting from Russia, would her granddaughter be attending a private school? hmm

I found the story line somewhat familiar.

I thought that there were private schools in America and state schools are called public schools.

However, I am not sure about the State of Alaska

As happens so often, OP writes something that has us boggling and looking for elucidation but never comes back with further information.

All the talk about private schools suggests UK. The clothing list, snow pants hmm sounds North American.

Its either a wind-up or an obsessive.

Blimey we have a job getting a coat on my grandkids
I too think this is a wind up sounding very like the school uniform lists except this one sounds American ‘school uniform ‘ poster didn’t
Methinks the original poster won’t be back with any more info the child has probably disappeared under the duvet coat

What about daps? I never knew what they were but Shoezone seemed to supply them.

Surely a Gran in Norway, Siberia or Alaska would know exactly how to make sure their GC were warm and weatherproof. Oddly there's no mention of the DGD's age in the OP. 5 or 15?

Crafting Sun 26-Nov-17 18:43:53

Do they make fur lined plimsoles do you think? grin

willsmadnan Sun 26-Nov-17 18:38:23

Whoops Deanna111 you've been sussed. No grannies on here would dress their GC like that. Get off your tablet, out of your smelly bedroom and get a life.

Be interesting to know how much this lot cost and where they bought it.

ninathenana Sun 26-Nov-17 17:28:09

Approx 10 hrs and no further word from OP confused
Fair enough mcem I confess I'm no expert smile

Jalima1108 Sun 26-Nov-17 16:30:23

Actually, the style of the OP sounds American so Alaska could be right.

Jalima1108 Sun 26-Nov-17 16:29:01

Minus 19C at the moment there mcem - you may be right!!
Or Siberia?

I would stay indoors Deanna111

Auntieflo Sun 26-Nov-17 14:14:47

Would they be Transit Vans Jalima?

mcem Sun 26-Nov-17 14:11:20

Compare style, syntax and spelling with shoezone poster. Very different!
However this could still be a wind up (or a genuine question from a gran in Alaska!)

Jalima1108 Sun 26-Nov-17 14:10:22

The uniform was underneath the onesie trisher

Jalima1108 Sun 26-Nov-17 14:09:53

At least she was wearing warm boots and not Vans Auntieflo!
