AIBU to ban my 2yr old grandson?

He comes to my house and immediately points out any bit of crumb or fluff on my floor, to make me feel like an inadequate housekeeper. He fetches the dustpan and brush to clean them, which I should feel thankful for, except to add injury to insult he make more mess and mayhem trying to clean than there was already. Would it be unreasonable to stop him visiting until he can accept my home as it is? He turned two last month and has been doing this since he was about 20 months old.

Simple solution ...... Vacuum the carpets before he comes. I can't believe you're serious when you suggest that he makes you feel like an inadequate housekeeper.

He's 2 years old ....... Please tell us you're joking ......

I tend to retain all fluff and dust in case anyone falls. They don't get hurt in my house!

Love it Kim!
However, if they bounce around on the furniture too much they do disturb a lot more dust grin

send round Readymeals's DGS pronto

Have all the people at the back of the queue when the humour gene was handed out stomped off?
Obviously not Maggiemaybe - look at the reply that I just got from Coco

confused

* Jalima1108*. I find your answer unbelievable! Clearly people don’t understand child development v well if they think a 2 yr old is capable of being considerate to the degree. Is he supposed to be telepathic! At 2 yrs old they are still egocentric and this is PERFECTLY NORMAL! Goodness I haven’t been lucky enough to have children and grandchildren,^

Oh my goodness Coco - read the thread!

He's not my DGS either - so you have obviously not taken in the OP's username either

If your reply wasn't so utterly rude then I would consider it hilarious.

Readymeals - it gets worse (or better)

let the little guy get on with it. He will grow up too soon.
I was always fussy about my house but now that I have 4 grandkids aged 5 and under I wouldnt be without tge mess including little finger prints on glass doors.

Nanabanana1 Thu 14-Feb-19 13:54:08

One of my DGS loved to clean even had his own Henry hoover. Sadly this didn’t last?

sylviann Thu 14-Feb-19 13:53:40

the lads only 2 I can not understand you being offended by such a young child you are being unreasonable

NotStressedOut Thu 14-Feb-19 13:52:05

My GC love to dust. They all have toy Dyson vacuums and kitchens. Children copy adults. Enjoy having your GS around and join in with the cleaning and make it a fun game for him if it makes him happy.

Pippa22 Thu 14-Feb-19 13:34:27

Sorry, reading now that this is a joke, it just wasn’t obvious to me.

Pippa22 Thu 14-Feb-19 13:31:16

Is this a joke post ReadyMeals ? Relish the little lad, buy him a toddler size dustpan, brush and broom and enjoy him.

goldengirl Thu 14-Feb-19 13:15:19

It won't last so make the most of it and let him do the cleaning whilst you make yourself a drink and put your feet up grin

SueDonim Thu 14-Feb-19 13:14:56

I love your NHS comment. Peardrop50! grin

I think some people just like the sound of their own voice, they're not interested in what others have to say.

Stella14 Thu 14-Feb-19 13:01:57

Surely this is a spoof!

breeze Thu 14-Feb-19 12:52:57

Readymeals it's no good. I'm afraid we'll have to virtually catch you and have you flogged grin I don't know what I've enjoyed most about this thread. The funny stories or the outrage every time I've come on and checked. Wetting myself.

Must 'fess up, that I've come onto threads late in the day so not read each and every response. Just skimmed through but I always read the first page to get the gist. And it was deadpan but as someone else rightly said, we've seen weirder that were true on this site grin

Madgran77 Thu 14-Feb-19 12:43:27

My shocked faces near the beginning were also meant to be ironic but now wondering I people got that or not!grin

Johno Thu 14-Feb-19 12:43:21

LOL.. hilarious.

aggie Thu 14-Feb-19 12:40:12

And this is a fun thread yea FUN

Dyffryn Thu 14-Feb-19 12:38:26

For goodness sake he is two, Yes Two.

Guineagirl Thu 14-Feb-19 12:33:28

I remember my daughter when she was two always wanting to wash up and the mess she made. She used to visit Granny’s and tidy, Granny just let her. The funny thing was one time my Mam visited us and my daughter when she felt she felt the visit was for a bit long she gave her her handbag, I didn’t know where to look, and my Daughter and I still smile at this. I would enjoy your visits some don’t see their grandchildren as they live far away.

ReadyMeals Thu 14-Feb-19 12:19:55

I dunno, the fashion when I came of age was to tell jokes with a straight face, and people thought it was a bit "off" to smile or laugh at your own jokes. So that's why I didn't add a smiley to the OP. That, and I thought it was already kind of obvious that we all know toddlers love to play at cleaning. If I didn't know that, would I even have the brains to be able to type a message at all?

HildaW Thu 14-Feb-19 12:13:28

Nuffin wrong with my sense of humour.....but if the OP had done what you did Maggiemaybe....include a smile we would all have been aboard this particular giggle train and enjoyed it a lot more!

Maggiemaybe Thu 14-Feb-19 12:00:24

Is that it now? Have all the people at the back of the queue when the humour gene was handed out stomped off? You can come out from behind the sofa now, Readymeals. Though for goodness’ sake don’t crack a joke. smile

Quickdraw Thu 14-Feb-19 11:58:02

How ungrateful some GNs are! shockThere are people who pay a lot of money for domestic help grin and some of us have spent this a.m. clearing up the detritus from yesterday's childminding session angry ggrrr...

David1968 Thu 14-Feb-19 11:52:17

MaidMarion, you have written exactly what I am thinking!! (Including the GC in USA.)

HildaW Thu 14-Feb-19 11:47:13

As I said earlier once I had twigged......we need an irony smiley....irony is not the easiest form of wit. Jane Austen got it right but even then it takes a clever clogs to fully unpick her novels. The OP aint no Jane Austen! wink
