I agree NfkDumpling.

We are Nanna and Grandad to our DGC.

Grandad does.

Granny and Grandad go together.
Grandma and Grandpa ditto.
Nothing matches up with Nan or Nanna, sorry.

?

I'm not posh enough to be called Grandma. (Actually, officially I'm Nanny Og and Himself is Grandad Grumps.)

It all depends on what ypu associate with the name. DH chose to be Grandad as he thought Grandpa sounded old & staid. To me they sound equally old but i prefer grandma & grandad as. its what I called my grandparents.

I'm a granny and brown suits me so in the autumn and winter I wear it.

I also wear beige (or whatever it happens to be called)

It's not the colour that dates but the style.

I'm a nana. I'm really strict. I don't believe in cuddles, I make my grandchildren do all the chores I hate and send them to bed at six if they don't eat all their greens. grin

I m a nana, well Nan now theyre older.... what does it matter
A name doesn’t mean a thing

I'm a Granny. My granddaughter thinks I'm really good fun. She says I'm weird - in a good way!?

I don't possess anything brown either!

I am a Granny and I well remember my Granny teaching me how to do backward somersaults off the top of haystacks.

A few days ago I wandered, with two of my grandchildren, round a field where the farmer had just been making hay, but alas the old fashioned haystacks have been replaced by hay bales enclosed in black plastic and they're just not as much fun to somersault off.

I've just read, with some disbelief over on the Grandparenting page (title next to Gransnet Forums above this board) that Grandma is lively and trendy whereas Granny is old and wears brown! I'm Granny as I saw lots of my Granny while growing up, my children spent much more time with their Granny, whereas their 8 years younger other Grandmother called Nana (her choice tho she had no time for any of her 7 grandchildren and her own chidren didn't like Nana either - maybe that's why she chose it?) was no fun to be with.
My boys' Granny always wore a skirt but that didn't stop her! She went up the high slide in the swing park to show the youngest one what to do, hooked up her skirt and wooooosh! safely down she went! She baked with them, played water games with them and guarded them with her life. If I'm half the Granny she was (and my own Granny) I'll have happy Grandchildren!
