This afternoon little Grandson came out of school with a sore throat. We got him to lie down with a blanket on for warmth. Then he had to suffer hubbie and I singing old songs like 7 little girls, sitting in the back seat kissing and a hugging with Fred,Paddy Maginty's goat(Val Doonican)Right said Fred,we'll have to take the roof off and She wore an itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini.I think he was praying for his Mum to come home! Any other songs from all our childhoods???

Yammy,Ann Shelton was my Grandads favourite singer!

My dad had been in the Navy and I was taught to sing "Sailor stop your roaming' as well. If I remember right Anne Shelton was a big woman with blonde hair. My mum was always singing but I can't so it must have been torture for anyone listening.

Does anyone remember The Spinners? My parents used to sing the songs and play their record when I was a child. Such lovely songs. 'The Family Of Man', 'The Ink is Black, The Page Is White'

Stanley Holloway`s Oh my, You do Look ill.

😊 it was “My word you do look queer”

Another even stranger one used to be on the radio a lot when I was little, it went : “Bill Jackson was a poor old dub, He joined the Darkdown Poker Club”…

She wears red feathers and a hula, hula skirt.
A four legged friend.
Sentimental journey.
See the pyramids along the Nile.
How much is that doggy in the window?

My mother's favourite was Big Rock Candy Mountain by Burl Ives and she used to play it for my children.

In the Big Rock Candy Mountain
the cops have wooden legs.
The bulldogs all have rubber teeth
and hens lay soft-boiled eggs.

I love singing cliff Richards - We're all going on a summer holiday' when we take the grandchildren away. It's even better when they start singing it back to their parents 😅
