Things that make me absolutely furious!

I think a thread where we can vent about things that really infuriate us would be good. They can be as silly or as serious as you like.
Sometimes, I get really angry at something I have seen on tv, or something that as happened to me, but I can’t find a proper hook to hang it on. Anybody else think this is good idea?

On a serious note, those who use mobile phones when driving. I worked with a lovely girl whose Mum was killed by one. Her Mum died that day and so did she.
Youngsters who can murder but can't be named.
Children sat in shopping trolleys.
Neighbours cats crapping in my garden.
Potholes. Slow to be mended then a rubbish repair.
Self service checkouts.
People who cough and sneeze freely over others
Sniffers.
Drivers who drive too close. Makes me slow down!
The Labour Party.
An increase in people with no pride in their surroundings.
The cost of eating out.
The continuing erosion of manners.
The water companies getting away with murder.
The gruesome twosome, Trump & Putin.
Gentle parenting.
Mums glued to phones and ignoring their child.
The Tate brothers.
Those in the supermarket who cannot pick up a loose potato without a bag over their hand.

The Sky news journalists who go on about all the life threatening/ dangerous stories they have covered. Why is it about them?

mrsmeldrew Tue 29-Apr-25 09:40:36

There is so much aggression. Air rage, car rage, supermarket rage, shop rage, covid rage, genZ vs boomer rage, far right rage, right wing BTL commenter rage, left wing BTL commenter rage, social media rage, dog rage ...

Not a lot makes me furious, but there are many things which I find irritating ( maybe that’s worse!)
Slovenly speech ( like ‘like’ every second word, ‘ so I’m like’, ‘literally’ when it’s not, and many more), not listening to what others are saying ( or reading others’ posts on here! “ My six year old grandson…..”, next post - “ What age is he?”)

I remember seeing Cher on television saying her mother told her always to ask herself if it would matter in five years, and, if it wouldn’t, then move on.

I truly don’t think I’ve ever been furious in my life. Perhaps I lack imagination. Or energy. Cross, yes, irritated yes. But that’s about my limit!

@#£%&+()

Me, too. Life's too short.

If someone is doing something that might annoy me, I reckon they may have a good reason for it.

TheWeirdoAgain1 Tue 29-Apr-25 10:03:02

It's an excellent idea, Crossstitchfan!

My furious is animal abusers/killers, there is NEVER EVER an excuse for any type of animal cruelty!

Katie Price that looks more like a werewolf every day!

Granmarderby10 Tue 29-Apr-25 10:03:34

Here’s two things to start off with😉

(1) Shops selling trousers that are virtually perfect in every way for me…except they are ridiculously long; so long that I could hold them up to my arm pits and they’d touch my shoes. grrrr! 👿

(2) The way bras are displayed in shops all tangled up together because they are crammed on to tightly. I’m looking at you M@S but others too. I reach as carefully as I can for my size but end up pulling the whole lot onto the floor.😡

Motherduck Tue 29-Apr-25 11:30:59

Parents glued to their mobile when they’re with their babies/toddlers, pushing a pram/buggy/eating lunch/at the park - all the while glued to their mobile. It doesn’t infuriate me as such it just saddens me.

Aldom Tue 29-Apr-25 11:36:18

Motherduck I feel the same as you about the missed opportunities of parents' ignoring their young children and concentrating on their phones. I've often wondered if children these days are slower at talking because they miss out on regular verbal stimulation from their parents', mums' in particular.
Like you, I'm not furious, that's a very strong word, I'm saddened.

Sarnia*- why do you Wang to know the names of young offenders?

NotSpaghetti Tue 29-Apr-25 11:38:57

*want to know.

Is this 'Grandparenting' only?

No, just whatever you, as a grandparent, want to vent about. I wasn’t asking for moans about grandchildren!

I love this! It must be awful, and I was lucky with mine. My mil had her moments. (Greasing the stairs sprang to mind a couple of times) but the could have been worse. Long gone now, bless them

My goodness, Sarnia! I didn’t realise just how much annoyed me until I read your post! I agree with it all! Isn’t that awful?

It's not easy, especially as my own family are a plane ride away.

I just stay away from them now. Saw MIL at Christmas and mothers day 2024 (which was basically the last straw for me)
They are all church goers and devout Christians (apparently) and I stupidly thought for years they were nice people but heyho you live and learn.

Your comment about Katie Price made me laugh! Seriously though, it’s sad that she can’t/won’t see what a freak she is becoming. She was so very pretty when she was young. Silly woman.

I took it her wanting them named and shamed. Correct me if I’m wrong.

People at our swimming pool who spend ages showering and washing their hair after a swim.

Body wash, shampoo, conditioner….stood using gallons of hot water, no doubt congratulating themselves on saving their own water at home.

Then wonder why pools can’t afford to stay open.

NotSpaghetti Tue 29-Apr-25 12:30:08

I do this Calendargirl because I don't want a chlorine rash.

How do you know how hot it is though? grin

But there’s showering and showering

Our aquacise class follows a swim session, and you can see some folk under the shower for about 10 minutes or so.

Just not necessary.
