Sedate? Ha ha ha - I'm with grannylyn on that one!!! Wait 'til my OH hears - he'll cry with laughter!
Welcome Bizilizi and all. I hope you feel made really welcome and can enjoy GN at its best.

Hello Bluecat, welcome flowers.
Well, I think GN is more sedate than MN, but I confess I avoid any contentious threads!

Bellanonna Fri 25-Mar-16 19:14:20

Oh, goddit !

Having checked Mumsnet, am ? ??!

Bluecat Sun 27-Mar-16 17:29:48

Thanks for the welcome, Shysal.

I don't know why it is but, for some reason, I find that I'm a bit shy about posting here. I see a thread where I've got something to add but I lack the confidence to post. Hopefully I'll get over it.

shysal Sun 27-Mar-16 20:36:32

I have been on here since the start, but, as my name suggests, I also hang back sometimes unless I am completely confident that I know what I am talking about. I am also great at killing a thread stone dead with my comments!
I look forward to seeing your future contributions, Bluecat. Do you actually have a blue cat? I have always wanted one.

Bluecat Mon 28-Mar-16 10:27:56

I did have a lovely, though rather dim, cat whose mum was a Russian Blue. (Father was unknown!). She had the most gorgeous fur. Sadly, she was run over by a car, straight outside our house.

"Bluecat" came about, though, because I was thinking of the Magic Roundabout film I took my nephew to see, many years ago, called Dougal and the Blue Cat.

I'm reasonably new but have started two threads already with quite diverse questions to which I've had numerous helpful replies - thanks everyone. One thing puzzles me (didn't think I was dumb but set me straight) what does the first abbreviated D stand for when talking about relatives? As in DD, DGD, etc.

shysal Tue 29-Mar-16 08:06:47

Hi Lindill49, glad you have made a promising start on here, hope you will continue to enjoy GN.flowers. The letter D can stand for Dear or Darling. Have a look under 'Acronyms' above the thread for any other puzzling ones.

I have started posting without saying hello which is probably a breach of etiquette. Apologies and hello. I do come and read the posts relatively often but I am a bit shy about joining in. I feel like the 'quiet person in the corner'. I think I actually joined a couple of years ago. I'm not a Gran, my oldest child is 30 and horse mad and my other daughters are only 24 and 25. One day I look forward to grandchildren but I'm struggling with fatigue at the moment and vague ill health. It's lovely to see such a lively forum, I hope I'll post more now I've broken my duck!

shysal Thu 31-Mar-16 16:47:37

A belated welcome, Azie09. There is no right or wrong way to get started on here, most just start posting or introduce themselves if an opportunity arises as they go along. I am a quiet person in the corner in real life, so know what you mean! I will look out for more contributions from you now you have broken the ice!. flowers

I first found Gransnet after years of trouble with my DIL and out of sheer frustration one day googled the sentence, Trouble with Daughter in law, and up popped Gransnet. The relief I felt reading the threads of people in similar situations helped me no end, so thank you all for sharing your experiences and words of wisdom.

shysal Mon 04-Apr-16 09:52:33

Welcome Clarry. flowers I am glad you found help on GN. There is plenty of advice, chat and fun on here, hope you will enjoy it all. smile

As name suggests have five lovely grandchildren from five months to eight years, three abroad and two in this country. Enjoy a daily read of threads but not posted before, plucked up courage when I found this thread!!

Hi, I'm a new member of Gransnet. I'm not sure what I should expect from my local group. I've had a look at my local page but there doesn't seem to be any links to anything . Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? confused

Nonnie Tue 05-Apr-16 16:27:39

No Jude some of the local groups are not well supported. Just stay on here and see what you make of us all. You will like some threads and not others but give us some time before you decide whether you want to stay on or not. Welcome. [cake] too early for wine

I only joined a short time ago but I thoroughly enjoy reading the posts. They make me laugh and cry. I like the anonymity too so you can answer/discuss things too.

Hi I'm fairly new on here, but I've just realised I joined in conversations and started a thread for some advise before I had introduced myself.Sorry ladies. I love reading the posts and joining in, I found site via my daughter using Mumsnet.Im still trying to find my way around it as I'd like to post some photos etc. However I do look forward to receiving the email everyday and seeing what the discussions are about. I hope I've done it correct and you are able to see my profile. Thanks for reading

shysal Fri 08-Apr-16 16:45:41

Hi Tessa101, a belated welcome!flowers No need to apologise, introductions can be done any time or not, as you go along. If you want your profile to be visible to others, you will need to go back in and click yes for this. Access for 'My Gransnet' or 'profile' is at the bottom of the page on desktop version, not sure about mobile one. Your name will then appear in blue on the threads and we can find out all about you by clicking on your name. Good luck!
