Do you do guide dog training for others or do you have a visually impaired family member? You must have endless patience! I admire you.

Hi all Ive joined tonight as by the end of the week we will be first time paternal grandparents to Twins a girl and boy so counting down the days Son and Dil live in the Midlands and we live in Northumberland
We are so excited and they are good weights already
Maternal Grandparents already have a GS of 9.Months they live equadistant the other way so we both have to travel We have offered to stay in a hotel they will stay with their other daughter who is nearer but still not on doorstep We were wanting to be down there on Friday but last time we spoke they were getting stressed with excitement and said to leave it into next week when they are home So we will wait and see what happens Anyway i cant wait to see them for the very first time and the emotions that it all will bring having waited till nearly 62 for the privilege ? looking forward to being part of here too xx

Welcome Retired RGN. I live in Northumberland too. My DD lives in Glasgow so I have to travel to see my DGC, she has four, one girl and three boys. I thought I was quite old, not becoming a Granny until I was 55, but apparently not! I hope all goes well with the birth of the twins, how exciting! Enjoy GN, it's a great time waster, I spend far too much time here.

Hi, just found Gransnet, looks interesting. Between us, we have 8 grandchildren. The eldest being 6 years old and the youngest are twins of 3 months. So I think I might qualify!
It would be interesting to see how other second wives handle the relationships with the wives and children of their husbands sons.... Bit long-winded but I hope you know what I mean.
Looking forward to making some new friends. ?

Thank you hildajenniJ i have a DD who is back living with us so i could have been a younger granny if things had worked out for her she is a Nanny though so i get to see her charges at times 3 children 4 2 and 1 !

Shysal...we have the guide dog puppy for 12-14 months and then he goes off for advanced training (heartbreaking when he goes). No we have no contact with anyone with visual impairment...we are doing it as a means of giving something back that may help someone.

How rewarding that must be Regalo, but letting him go will be heartwrenching. Glad you are still logging in to GN!

Hello. I've just joined Gransnet this afternoon. I'm going to be a first time grandmother in July and my lovely daughter, who will be a solo mum, used donor conception. I wan to help her as much as I can - does anyone have this experience? Any tips?

I've been on Gransnet for several months, commenting sometimes, but mostly reading comments and learning that many others have the same joys, problems, and heart-aches as I have.
However, I often feel like an outsider when reading some of the comments saying how they hate Americans or the way we use different words. Or Americans are a bad influence on the world. Certainly, we have a loser for a President, but hopefully all that will change in November.
So, I will continue to read but not say much unless I have a piece of advice that may be helpful to someone.
I choose to spend my time on GN instead of Facebook as I really enjoy it so much more. I live in a very rural area, so don't have many friends to visit with. Reading the posts on GN is like having a visit with a friend.

Well, here is a question but I don't know if I should be asking it here on somewhere else
I've been looking for a dress that I can wear for meals out or parties
It needs to be past the knee, cover my tummy and with 3/4 sleeves. Wrap dresses suit me but I hate clingy fabrics. I am a bit bigger round the waist than I used to be so something that clinches me in would be nice.
A nice fabric is essential so it will last.
Anyone found something I could look it?

Lulu and Milasnanna, I suggest you start new threads for answers to your questions, as this one doesn't get much attention. (Feels like just me sometimes!) Go to 'Forums' above, choose a suitable general heading, then 'Start a new discussion'. You can then click on 'watch this thread' and keep tabs on it by using the boxes 'watching', 'I'm on', 'last hour' etc.

Montana, I am sorry you have felt like an outsider. We have members from all over the world, and all should be included. I am interested to see you describe Obama as a loser, I thought he was well liked. What do you think of Trump? He doesn't come across well to me!

Isaac Oliver and Amelie Grace arrived this morning around 5am we are delighted! Isaac 6lb 8oz and Amelie 6lb 2 oz! both well ..Their Mammy had a natural birth too DIL is very tired as low in iron so is being treat for that so son is revelling in looking after the babies in the hospital where they will be a few days
