Hope you will enjoy GN.

Hello to all and welcome.

clangers72 Thu 10-Mar-16 21:22:48

Hello, like some others have been on MN, but hope this is more me, have two grandsons age 2 and 3, absolutely the best thing ever being a nanny. hope to look at the forums and see what you all have to say over next day or two.

Lynnieg Thu 10-Mar-16 19:43:33

Thanks for the welcome, I'll try and spend more time looking around at the weekend.
I have a granddaughter and grandson. 5 and 2. They live quite a distance away so I'm working on being 'Long Distance Unsuitable Nanny' wink

Thank you ladies for the welcome. I'm enjoying popping on to the various threads on here, far more applicable to me that MN, it makes me feel ancient! Our GDs are coming for the weekend tomorrow and I cannot wait to see them!

Welcome to the latest newbies.flowers
Lynnieg, I much prefer GN to MN, the 'other place' has far too much content for me to keep up with. It is cosier (usually) on here, hope you will enjoy.
Linollie21, what years of fun you will have with twin GDs!

BBbevan Mon 07-Mar-16 08:44:01

Bless you Linollie21. It just gets better and better .

Hi! I joined today. A new (ish) Grandma with identical twin grandaughters who are 7 months old, I'm absolutely loving this whole new adventure!

BBbevan Sun 06-Mar-16 19:34:38

Excellent advice Nelliemoser

Hello and welcome all you newcomers.

I wish we had had this thread 3ys ago when I joined. I sort of snuck in in early 2012 when DD told me she was pregnant with my first grandchild.
I wasn't sure at the time if I was allowed in unless I was actually a granny. It's generally a good place with the odd row.

Write on what threads you like and just ignore the rest if they get heated.

Lynnieg Sun 06-Mar-16 18:17:07

Hello, took the plunge and joined. I've been lurking on Mumsnet a bit but it's not quite 'me' smile

shysal Fri 04-Mar-16 17:00:29

vic200 Fri 04-Mar-16 10:43:29

Bellanonna Wed 02-Mar-16 22:48:16

Welcome, Grannatu. Hope to hear from you soon. Do start posting.

Grannatu Wed 02-Mar-16 20:21:24

Hello, I'm new and loving it here! smile

shysal Wed 02-Mar-16 11:14:10

Welcome *vic200flowers. If you click on the 'Acronyms' box above each thread, you will find a list of the most commonly used abbreviations. They take a bit of getting used to, but they will soon become second nature to you. I hope you will enjoy the site.

vic200 Wed 02-Mar-16 10:30:22

Hello all I'm new here and I'm a bit confused ? I don't get all the abbreviations. It's a bit like trying to read Morse code lol?

grannylyn65 Tue 01-Mar-16 16:29:50

Housework? ???

shysal Tue 01-Mar-16 07:44:11

Welcome Lazigirl flowers. Bet you aren't as lazy as I am, I hate housework and do the bare minimum! Pleased you are enjoying the mix of subject matter on here, and that you have decided to go 'blue'.

Lazigirl Mon 29-Feb-16 18:28:49

Hello. I am quite new and have started posting but guess should have introduced self here first. Find it a bit intimidating as there are obviously quite a few regulars who seem to know each other very well. I am so impressed by the support that is offered if members ask, and also by the very informed (sometimes heated) debate on so many eclectic subjects. Wonderful. Thanks for enlightening about members font colours. Didn't know what it meant before.

Snowdrop Sun 28-Feb-16 14:59:39

shysal Thank you, and for the flowers smile. I don't get to see them as often as I'd like as I'm still working full time and both DS and DiL have very demanding careers (they're in the same line of work that you were in, from looking at your profile ,what a coincidence!). I guess I get to see them 2 or 3 times a year...there is talk of a career move back to the UK, but not getting my hopes up! Much...

BBbevan Sun 28-Feb-16 14:47:06

Dear Shysal,me too

shysal Sun 28-Feb-16 14:19:55

*BBbevan, I have seen your name popping up all over the threads, I am pleased you are fitting in. I have learnt when to wade in and when to back off! Being a coward, I avoid controversial threads.

Welcome, Snowdrop flowers. How often to you get to see the GCs? I suppose Germany is only a short hop these days!

crafter72 Sun 28-Feb-16 14:03:40

Hi shysal, yes I do quite a lot of knitting & crochet, mostly for charities now. My grandchildren are 16 (boy) and 9 (girl) so more choosy about what they wear - hand-mades aren't always quite the thing these days! shock wink Your Tin Man sounds very adventurous, well done & I can imagine why your g'son was pleased.

Snowdrop Sun 28-Feb-16 14:01:01

Going back to the original question, I'm Grandma to my 2 granddaughters (aged 1 and 4 and a half). My DiL is German and they live in Germany, their German grandparents are Oma and Opa so no real problem in mixing us up! My son is Papa to the two girls, which I think is sweet (pronounced with short 'a's rather than the English pronunciation)
