Evening all!!

I am back in the land of the living! Luckily , it was a short lived bug and not full blown tonsillitis . So by tomorrow I'm sure I will be back to normal. Time to catch up with you all.

How has the buttercream gone Greyduster ? I was thinking and realised that you might get the colour you wanted using a blue colour + plus the yellow butter? But hope you found what you needed. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished cake. I too, have a minecraft boy smile.

I have realised there is a niche in the market for Loan Dogs smile !! I think I may have to rent Sam out. He is currently snoring under Grampys chair , with his little legs going ten to the dozen , rabbitting !

That's exciting news Ann !! Might even help your DH , lots of studies done about the calming influence of pets.

How is Georgie doing Jud ? That was a morning wake up , I admire you . I'm not at my best in the morning. I hope she continues to improve .

Oh Izabella that sounds awful . Our youngest daughter had a similar accident when she was about 7 so I know where you're coming from especially teeth wise !!

Well, time for a quiet evening here. Happy evening all x

cornergran Sun 05-Feb-17 18:49:59

Oh Izabella, I do hope you could sleep. There will be plenty of door holders for you when you can visit the kitchen. Horrid accident.

Jud can you use the nappies? Yes, so like new babies but don't forget, they do wear nappies. So pleased Georgie is progressing, but such hard work.

Sadly ours don't have dogs, grannyqueenie, wish they would grin

grannyqueenie Sun 05-Feb-17 18:34:16

Oh Izabella sad you poor soul, you must be just aching all over after that. Hope you're able to sleep and have someone nearby to lend a hand..so to speak!
Cornergran that's just like me, we had dogs when we had the children all at home and so enjoyed it. The family were sure we would get another when we retired and moved away from the city but like you it just wouldn't easily fit with the life we now have. I'm so glad 3 of the children now have dogs as I get my pet therapy at their expense and sometimes get to dogsit too! One daughter has handsome cats, they don't visit but I enjoy seeing them when we go there.
Sounds like Georgie is going to be a full time job, Jud, hopefully you'll get into a routine that makes it all a bit easier to manage. The home with a new baby analogy sounds very apt!
Well best get back to putting the house back in order, the visiting dog didn't make much mess but his humans seemed to!

Judthepud2 Sun 05-Feb-17 18:25:04

Until she is able to squat again callgirl. May be some time yet.

Izabella what a horrible accident! You must be feeling very sore and shocked. Sleep is definitely a good idea, at least to deal with the shock. I'm sure you will be out of action for a while so take it gently and allow yourself to heal! flowers

Charleygirl Sun 05-Feb-17 18:23:50

Oh dear Izabella so sorry to hear that you came a cropper yesterday. It will probably really hit you once you are back home and settled. I am amazed to hear that there was a dentist on a Sunday.

Are you right handed? It will be a tad difficult for you if you are.

Jud I was pleased to hear that Georgie did not keep you awake with her howling. A nappy seems to be the best method as she cannot tell you when she wants to "go". My heart goes out to the poor little mite because she will hate being in that state having been a clean little girl before her accident.

callgirl1 Sun 05-Feb-17 18:19:13

AnnSixty, the cats will probably retreat with their superior noses in the air. I`ve never heard of that breed, from the photo they look like cuddly toys, lovely.
For dinner today we had a roast in the bag pork joint, never had one before, it was really nice, lean and tasty.
Jud, life, hopefully, will soon settle down. Have they any idea how long the incontinence will last?

Jalima Sun 05-Feb-17 18:13:20

shock oh dear Izabella

Izabella Sun 05-Feb-17 18:10:10

Knock knock. Can someone open the door please and hold it open? Right arm currently in plaster after a rather spectacular and unplanned dismount from the mountain bike yesterday. 5 hours in A/E and the clinical decisions unit. So several smashed teeth, fractures to hand and facial lacerations. Just back from emergency dental work. Not often you get a dentist out on a Sunday. So I shan't be bringing cakes this week.

Pleased to see Georgies news. Bit spaced out so will have another nap.

cornergran Sun 05-Feb-17 18:06:58

grin Jalima. I think there's a kindred spirit here.

Judthepud2 Sun 05-Feb-17 18:04:05

soop isn't it lovely to see snowdrops? Those in your photo are amazing! Ours are doing well this year too. If I had a moment to spare I would send a photo of mine. They have cheered me up today as I looked at them through the window, shining in the sun.

Ann a little cavachon is such a cute little dog. It should cheer you up although pups are quite a handful at first.

Talking about handful, Georgie has been bombing about today on her 2 front legs with her ball but gets exhausted very easily and is resting on her new 'vet bed'. I bought this as she can get off and on it easily. Last night she was quiet and seems to sleep but I won't describe the scene awaiting me this morning. The incontinence became a reality and I spend most of the morning on hands and knees cleaning up. She was like a little snail, constantly dribbling despite my efforts, obviously not that successful, at expressing her bladder. And boy did she stink! I did wash her behind a few times but it didn't do much good. Eventually, I had to put a nappy on for the sanity of all ?

We did our first physio session. Again, I'm sure it wasn't as effective as she was getting in the hospital but at least it is something towards her rehabilitation. That was another hour gone! It felt like the time I brought my first babies (2 of them!) home. A bit bewildered, out of control and exhausted. Still, I think it will be a few days of trial and error to see what works and then hopefully things will get easier. At least we have her back again. It might have been so different.

Thanks for listening all of you and for your good wishes. You are lovely people and I have so appreciated your kindness.

Jalima Sun 05-Feb-17 17:43:56

ps so far he only manoeuvres into walls
fingers crossed.

Jalima Sun 05-Feb-17 17:43:16

He's not my dog Greyduster, I found his picture online but I now have dog envy too, I want one just like that, he looks so sweet and cuddly.
However, I must remember to be practical.

It is not practical for us to have a dog - repeat.

We have about 10 snowdrops out in the garden. They never seem to have increased in number in the 25 years they have been there.

It's gravity - the reason that male heads become bald but their beards grow thicker.

cornergran that's what bumpers are for - bumping. That's DH's theory anyway.

Mildred Sun 05-Feb-17 17:41:54

Snowdrops are beautiful, I think the squirrels dig my snowdrops up, I have spent most of the day in the garden, everything is budding, felt like a spring day. You live in a beautiful part of the country Soop been up to Kintyre a couple of times when we were younger.

soop Sun 05-Feb-17 17:34:24

Buggeration! I have lost a long post to you lot and I'm not a happy bunny.

Tomorrow, I shall re-write the messages. In brief, I'm hoping Nana is beginning to recover. I'm also hoping that Georgie has had a reasonable second day back at home.

We've been lining the cat's chalet with offcuts of carpet that has been removed from the bedroom. Rory sat beside MacS throughout the project. Rory remained po-faced. I offered to help - got onto my knees and did a bit of useful faffing, only to find that I couldn't get up again. MacS came to the rescue.

There could be a colourful sunset. Camera ready and waiting. You never know your luck wink I could be sharing another masterpiece with you in the morning.

Thank you for your company. I do believe that I have read through all the posts that mounted up when we lost the internet.

It would be beneath Tara's dignity to climb a tree although at the age of 12-13 she could do it. She could outrun Hussein Bolt any day.

I love dogs but for many reasons I could not have one.

soop the snowdrops are gorgeous- I have no idea why but nobody here can grow them. I am aware that I do not have green fingers but others do.

cornergran Sun 05-Feb-17 15:56:15

I'm with greyduster, doggie envy is alive and well here. They are just so gorgeous, particularly like the Cavachon ann, I hadn't come across those before, very appealing. Smiffy is equally gorgeous, I'm going green as I write this. We have had two dogs in the past, still miss both but common sense prevailed. No one to mind a dog when we are away and we do have long days out, one day though. Hoping Georgie is settling at home, she's had a tough time.

Thank you greyduster and soop for your calming words. Mr C is fine about it all, it's just me who remains a quivering wreck. I know it's daft, it will pass, it's just that sense of a sword hovering over the head. The family have been distracting me today, smile, the dentist will carry out the same function tomorrow hmm.

We've some huge trees a short distance from our garden. Hearing magpies shouting we looked up to see a cat steadfastly climbing and climbing and climbing. The magpies swooped and shouted, he swayed about up there for a bit and then descended safely, phew. Just in case, does anyone know if the Fire Service still rescue cats from trees? Never seen a cat in those trees before. But you never know.

soop Sun 05-Feb-17 14:25:22

Hello again, Mildred I'm very pleased that you were able to locate us. Do pull up a comfortable chair. I shall make you a nice brew. Although it's a sunny day, there is a nip in the air.

corner I sympathise with both of you. A wee bump can be very unsettling. Most of us have been there at some time or other. I hope that the damage can be fixed without too much ado, or cost.

grannyqueenie Smiffy is an exceedingly handsome boy.

ann We have a lady in the village who owns a Cavachon bitch. Such a sweet, angelic face. What's not to like about it.

NonnaW If only us lot could taste virtual maltloaf. Do you add plump sultanas?

Swanny and Bella I took the photo of snowdrops just this morning. At the time, the sun hadn't put in an appearance.

Our granddaughter, (the one who is to marry her delightful Dutchman this year), is having an introductory day with the Samaritans. She is a very caring young lady. In her late teens, she worked in a dementia clinic. After uni', she was employed by the Care Quality Commission. She is now working in a different branch of the same organisation.

soop Sun 05-Feb-17 13:58:54

Jud It was almost certainly going to be a stressful first night back home for lovely Georgie and you. One day and night at a time. She will recover. Her confidence has been sorely tested. Us lot are rooting for her to get a little stronger with every passing day.

Greyduster Your husband's remark made me hoot. MacSporran has a gorgeous beard but very little hair on top. When young, he had luxuriant curls. He did say at one time, that he wished he could transplant the beard to where he would so love to have hair. It's never going to happen. wink
By the way, MacSporran enjoys Eric Coates London Suite.

Greyduster Sun 05-Feb-17 13:35:49

PLEASE PLEASE stop posting these pictures!! I now have a severe case of doggy envy, what with Georgie, Smiffy and now Ann's puppy ☹️️. Good job my little two legged puppy is coming to see me this afternoon! Just finished making blackberry and apple pie for after lunch and I am sitting listening to Eric Coates London Suite. Wonderful stuff.

DH just made me laugh so hard I nearly fell out of my chair. He came down from the bathroom and said "My hair is getting very thin at the front - I think I'll have to train my eyebrows to grow up and fill in the gaps!"

Charleygirl Sun 05-Feb-17 12:33:37

Jalima that really is a cute pup. I have never heard of that breed before but that dog is gorgeous.

annsixty Sun 05-Feb-17 12:32:08

That is lovely Jalima thank you they are cute aren't they?.

Jalima Sun 05-Feb-17 12:23:57

I am glad Georgie is home and convalescing judthepud - I'm sure she will soon feel much better with your tlc.

All this doggie talk is making me want another one, but we did make a conscious decision not to have another pup.

Jalima Sun 05-Feb-17 12:20:13

I've never heard of that breed annsixty so I had a look - they look so cute!
I'm sure the dog will soon find out his place in the pecking order with three cats around.
I hope you don't mind me posting this photo I found online:

MawBroon Sun 05-Feb-17 12:15:30

Congratulations annsixty! I defy anybody to remain in low spirits when faced with a wriggly, smiley, tail wagging puppy!
Even your DH!!

Bellanonna Sun 05-Feb-17 11:02:09

Oh I've just looked at the breed Ann. They are really cute. How exciting! I'm sure the cats will hold their own and the pup will just have to fit in. Here's wishing you lots of joy with your grand dog and hope you get to see him/ her quite often.
