N&G I don't think there are any such things as healthy flapjacks. Not anywhere.

We have finally finished the Christmas cake. I am quite pleased not having to eat so much for a month or so.

Wondering what tartan the Mormon Tabernacle Choir are wearing? Trump's mother was a McLeod wasn't she? Is it the McLeod or an invented McTrump tartan I wonder?

One thing he is not, is an orator.
Harrumph!

Evening all!!

Despite my appt running late by nearly 2 hours late ( why not ...after all my times not valuable at all! ) I'm all done.

Wasn't as bad as I expected although my diabetic level is way out of control. Looking historically the same happens every year straight after Christmas - no surprises there.

So I have a new pill to add to my collection! And a lecture and some new goals.

I hope Harrigran that Dh gets such a clean getaway smile

I don't test my own levels Izabella , I'm only type 2 but I totally get what you're saying. I am seeing the practice diabetic nurses and will talk to them about it . More likely to get action that way.

Welcome back online * Soop* ! Ah Evil Noodle.... when he was tiny he once inadvertently wee'd on our daughters pillow. At the same time there was a radio ad talking about bad noodles and the strap line was.... ' Don't get in to bed with Evil Noodle' !! Made trips to the vets interesting.

Sadly ,Essex isn't close to Manchester but get where you're coming from. Practical help for Ann would be excellent .

Off to make healthy flapjacks !! And a dhal ...I think that's how you spell it.

Great to see you back in the kitchen again Soop, hope it`s not too brief a stay.
Izabella, your Bella is the spitting image of one Sherry, who was part of our household in the late 60s and early 70s, a beautiful cat.

soop Fri 20-Jan-17 16:13:34

I'm delighted to have had the opportunity to catch up with you lot. I'm still feeling very concerned for ann Do any of we kitcheners live in the Greater Manchester district? I'm trying to think of a way to give her some practical support. Any ideas?

soop Fri 20-Jan-17 15:07:11

harrigran flowers and sunshine for you and your husband.

Swanny My late Nana was the bread-winner and more besides. My late grandfather was inclined to be lazy. I recall an occasion when she arrived home from one of her housekeeping jobs, laden with groceries, prepared to organise the evening meal, to find my grandfather sitting (as always) in his armchair. It was dark. The moment she walked into the house, he shouted...'put a shillin' in the meter, Missus. I've been sittin' in the dark'. The shillings for the meter were kept in a dish, in the kitchen. He couldn't be bothered to do the job for himself. I used to feel miffed on her behalf.

soop Fri 20-Jan-17 14:57:16

corner the dratted cough iremains with our friend. She's into week five with hers. It's what us lot call a buggeration.

Izabella Bella is gorgeous. Your photo is stunning. Kiwi and Evil Noodle, too. Love the name. How come?

oldgoat A 'get well soon' note to Oscar. Make the most of being not quite the boy you'd like to be. Rory the one-time alpha feline, sends condolences. He adds...it's for your own good. confused hmm

kittylester Fri 20-Jan-17 14:53:23

Harri, I can't believe it is a year since your op - you've been through an awful lot. It's good your DH has been fast tracked but you must be very worried. You know we are here if you need to off load. flowers

How are you doing n&g?

Great to see you back soop, if only fleetingly. grin

We went to a public meeting of our local CCG yesterday where we shared a table with an exceedingly charming man whom I recognised but couldn't place. It came to me in a flash this morning! He was a Judge whose court I have supported in loads of time! If only he had worn his wig and robes last night. grin

I posted somewhere else about our busy day yesterday and it's telling on me today! So, we are sitting down with a cuppa and the crossword and then we are going to watch Trump's Inauguration!

I hope Ann is OK!

soop Fri 20-Jan-17 14:47:00

Nellie Your beautiful grandson looks cuddlesome. Shall us lot form an orderly queue? I would love to bounce him on my knee and sing nursery rhymes.

aggie and POGS and janea and moomin and bags and Izabella I add my good wishes to yours. annsixty remains very much in my thoughts.

NanaandGrampy Have you been to the surgery? If so, I shall catch up as I trawl through all the recent messages.

soop Fri 20-Jan-17 14:25:57

Let joy be unconfined! I've been looking for a way on to the internet for about 24 tedious hours. The amber light flashed non-stop. MacS couldn't figure out what was awry. I've been spitting tacks ever since. Anyways, have just returned home to discover a blue light which has almost (not quite) made me jump for joy.

Thank you bags for being there in my time of need. You're a good sport. smile

Yesterday's lengthy afternoon response to you lot tiddled off into the ether. So many messages to catch up with. So many delightful photos that have pasted a smile on my otherwise grumpy face.

I have to read through all the news before I can comment. Please let the 'puter remain agreeable. Be patient, I'm determined to catch up.

Charleygirl Fri 20-Jan-17 12:37:45

Tara, for a female cat is quite small whereas Bella is quite a beautiful well proportioned lady. Is she friendly or does she take her time to make human friends? Was she a rescue cat as Tara was? She had two awful homes within the first two years of her life but has fallen on all four paws here. Thankfully she no longer brings home rats, mice and birds.

Izabella Fri 20-Jan-17 12:29:51

Bella would like to thank her admirers and assures other owners that she is perusing the various photographs with interest. Not quite as interested as in the Attenborough programmes, but the interest is there ............... I have a marvellous photograph of her transfixed in front of the tv watching the farewell dressage exhibition of Valegro. Kiwi looks suitably relaxed and I love the crossed paws N&G

Beautiful sunny morning here and just back in from the allotment. Finishing sorting out the seed packets later.

Izabella Fri 20-Jan-17 12:20:30

nanaandgrampy. I assume you have a meter and test your blood glucose levels? May I suggest you test (and Keep a written record) before and after every meal? Also make a note f what you eat. If you are serious about low carbing you will see that your BG levels fall. You will also find out what foods are good or not good for you personally. For e.g. I can eat home made spelt soughdough bread in small amounts and it makes no difference to my BG. Doing this you will have evidence to show your GP,other wise you may get the I know best approach from the surgery. TAKE CONTROL
PM me if you need more help I have been through this. ?

cornergran Fri 20-Jan-17 11:12:37

Thank you for the message bags. I worry when soop doesnt appear. Sadly I can offer no help with the internet connection other than when it happens to us hitting the router box doesn't seem to help grin.

Swanny Fri 20-Jan-17 10:49:43

thatbags thanks for passing on the message from soop. Please tell her us lot are looking forward to seeing her again after she's put a shilling in the meter grin

Lona Fri 20-Jan-17 10:46:47

harri flowers

Charleygirl Fri 20-Jan-17 10:39:35

Bella and Kiwi are gorgeous. I think that Bella is her own boss and her servants are looking after her very well.

harrigran so sorry to hear that your DH has a fast track appointment but at least something is being done and quickly.

thatbags Fri 20-Jan-17 09:56:13

flowers harrigran.

soop's internet connection is still buggered and she's gey pissed off about it, sends greetings to You Lot and will be back asap.

harrigran Fri 20-Jan-17 09:32:20

It is one year today since my operation, what a long and winding road it has been. DH had blood test last week and GP rang him with the results so quickly that it set alarm bells ringing, result is he has a consultant appointment under the two week rule.

NanaandGrampy Fri 20-Jan-17 09:15:24

Morning all !

I feel the sword of Damocles hanging over me this morning :-( very unlike me.

Galen would it be unreasonable of me to refuse insulin if offered and instead suggest a revisit in 8 weeks to see if I have made enough changes to my diet and weight? IF that is his suggestion Id like to try every other avenue first.

PS Pass over the bug ...at this point I'm willing to try anything smile

You could be right Corner and I sincerely hope so...but...I'm not confident.I don't know how you manage with the 'd e n t I s t ' hanging over you. That would be horrible. I think I see a visit in my future but I'm hanging out in case that's not the case.

Oldgoat I feel your pain....when Sam had his op that damn 'cone of shame' was the bane of my life. He bumped into the back of my legs constantly and took a header down the stairs when he misjudged it. We had to get a shorter cone in the end but oh..... I'm not sure who was most pleased when it came off- him or us !!

Some lovely cat pictures on here -Izabella Bella is beautiful. Popped up on my time line today a picture of our cat Evil Noodle ( don't ask [laugh] ...we still miss him.

Happy day everyone x

kittylester Fri 20-Jan-17 09:08:31

A more normal, and less flattering, view of Kiwi on the window seat in the kitchen. I like to sit there watching the birds - I can't imagine why Kiwi likes it there!

oldgoat Thu 19-Jan-17 23:28:09

Bella is a very pretty cat Isabella.

oldgoat Thu 19-Jan-17 23:25:32

Pleased to report that Oscar is feeling a bit better tonight so I won't have to spend another night on the sofa. The pain-killing injection has obviously worn off and he keeps trying to get at his nether regions but the plastic lampshade is doing its job. Hope he won't have to wear it for too long though as he keeps bashing into things.

Izabella Thu 19-Jan-17 23:23:30

Goodnight from Bella

cornergran Thu 19-Jan-17 22:54:55

You never know n&g it could just be that there just happened to be an appointment and the trigger is something minor. Ever hopeful, that's me!

You know galen that really isn't fair. Here I am coughing still, week seven I think, not even one pound has left me. Thinking about it I can blame Mr C who made sure I was fed, how could he? grin

10 days to d-day (dentist-day), flipping cough needs to be on its way.

Take care all
