A bright but chilly morning here. That early sun always cheers me up.

I'm glad it was not you Kitty that was so heinous as to banish Snow White ( she does look a sweetie). Ours have been known to take things like a new scooter to bed or on one occasion wearing their new wellibobs !!

I'm glad the card reached you soop just wanted you to know we're thinking of you . Sounds like you need more than a card for the debacle about your op notes etc. It beggars belief !!

I don't mind some politics in the kitchen to be fair , its one of the few threads that could discuss without anger I think but happy not too equally!

Grey I too have fired a machine gun - what a lot of fun and absolutely no need for accuracy....you and I shall stand guard then at the kitchen door!! Galen we'll pop you at an upstairs window with your bow and arrow to pick off stragglers !

I know just what you mean Oldgoat , so when I am tired, or down or just can't be bothered , I remind myself that they stay small for such a short period of time that now is the time to enjoy every second because I know they will be less inclined to visit Nana and Grampy as the years pass.

Well...... SiL is confined to bed !! Not through doing what he shouldn't , but he went to the loo in the night and that was the end of his back ! Just one of those things. He spent all yesterday flat on his back and I am the taxi service to get him to his specialists apt tonight to discuss his MRI. I'm not convinced he will get in the car but we will give it a go . I'm dying to say I told you so by the way but am trying VERY hard not to.

So, today I am taking his wife (DD2) and young Cooper out for a mooch for a couple of hours. Grampy has succumbed to the children's germs and is on his last legs [laugh] so he may not come but I hear a very nice slice of cake calling my name !!

I've been sitting in the corner of the kitchen eavesdropping on all the chat. Hearing other people's trials and tribulations really makes me count my blessings.
It's lovely to see photos of other GNers little grandchildren but it's a reminder of how much our two 'little' boys have grown up and how much our contact with them has dwindled in the last couple of years. We've got a playroom full of toys - mountains of lego, train sets, partly dismembered Action men, etc.etc. It's hard to accept that this stage in our life has passed now. I'm sure we will be long-gone before there are any great grandchildren to play with them.But for now I'll hang on to the toys, just for a bit longer.

This kitchen is just buzzing with lots of chat. I'm way behind on keeping up with all the news, did try to post yesterday but got distracted and then it had vanished, where do they actually go I wonder?
I don't know about anyone else but frankly I'm already fed up with all the e******n talk and it's only been announced today!
So sorry to hear of folk having ongoing friustrations with hospitals. It's so wearisome when there are no answers/ apologies forthcoming. No wonder you're feeling a bit down maw you've a lot to contend with anyway without being messed about. soop please don't apologise for feeling frustrated at the lack of response to your queries, of course they are important. Oh and I hope your leg is mending slowly but surely.
Like you Anne I've been following the news items about the women in Scotland and their plight post surgerywith interest and some dismay. I've decided not to proceed with the surgery that was suggested for me. The gynae chap I last week saw assured me no mesh would be involved but I still wasn't happy to go ahead
and am hoping some serious pelvic floor exercises will help for now. I know I will probably have to have it done eventually but am happy to leave it for now and feel very relieved to have made that decision.
Reading of those who have lost a much loved husband reminds me again of how blessed I am to have my old boy still by my side. I've no idea how I'll be if he wasn't here or had serious health issues but hope I'll show the same courage as those I know in "real" life or via this forum who get up every day, face the world, survive and still smile.
Half my family are away on well deserved holidays so it's very quiet. My youngest daughter is preoccupied, but in a very lovely way, with the new man in her life. It's early days still but it looks like he may be a "keeper", and I couldn't be more pleased for her.

It's taken me at least 45 minutes to catch up with all the news that's accumulated over the Easter period while I have been away visiting family for the long weekend. We went to a big family party on Saturday: DS2 drove from Didcot to Folkestone and back, by way of Sandhurst to pick up and drop off Senior DGD. We met her new puppy - Maggie - a cross Westie/Jack Russel - very wiggly and friendly, wanting to kiss everyone! We had to leave her at home as she would have created mayhem at the party! It was great to see all the in-laws with whom I am on very good terms despite having divorced their brother/uncle many years ago. My two GSs had a great day, though we discovered that the younger (9) had managed to consume about 8 cans of full strength Coca Cola and was bouncing off the walls! Vast amounts of chocolate was eaten over the weekend - some of it by me, I must confess . Today I have spent a good many hours on a train with nothing to do but read and do puzzles; so why am I exhausted?

I'll be there with me wheelchair and bow and arrows!

MacSporran has helped me to pen an intelligent letter to the surgeon concerned. It is going by registered post and we shall include a stamped addressed envelope. So there!

I shall log off until tomorrow. No ironing duties for me this week. Start the day visiting the surgery for a change of leg dressing. I shall look forward to catching up (once again) with you lovely lot

Women are saying their lives have been ruined and marriages severely damaged.

So found the item on google news. 100's of women are suing the NHS and Johnson and Johnson for damage caused by the mesh implants. I think they were mainly between 2008 and 2014. Sorry if someone has already said this but it had passed me by.

Mesh is getting a very bad press these days Soop. My cynical self wonders whether their amnesia or absence of records might be to undermine any claims for compensation.

We had a very helpful meeting with PALS at the Royal Free today who will be investigating Saturday's shambles, not least how anybody could send out 2 doses of Moviprep "without authorisation " for a colonoscopy and if there WAS some authorisation, why the procedure could not be carried out.
Not looking for vengeance (!) compensation or grovelling apologies, but an explanation and for the procedure to be rescheduled as this investigation needs to be done. DH can't be at the receiving end of 2 or even 3 pints of blood every week!
I imagine you are looking for explanations and clarification too, soop.
If "nothing was done" can they please give you your money back??

Ann I posted on another thread that I discussed mesh repairs with my gynae consultant earlier this year, as I had read that NICE no longer sanctioned them and he said most gynaecologists no longer use them, and he certainly didn't. Someone said that there was a discussion on Victoria Darbyshire this morning.

"It'll take full barricades, and a machine-gun or two". * Elegran* I fired a machine gun once or twice. I don't think I actually hit anything, but I frightened the life out of the poor b****r who was instructing us!! So, if you need my services please make sure you stand well back - preferably behind the nearest wall!

Could the Patient's Association help you to get answers, soop? It all sounds very strange to me! They put us ladies through enough without sending us up blind alleys as well. I was up at the gynae clinic this afternoon for a check up and relayed some information that my GP had given me concerning some anomaly related to my current dilemma. "I don't know why she told you that" said the nurse practitioner "it simply hasn't happened - everything is where it should be!" I am none the wiser. Perhaps I have a clone and we both have different problems!!

There was something in the press this morning about mesh used in gynae procedures but I can't remember what it was and I can't find the newspaper.

You must be more than flummoxed soop. Shouldn't the gynae be back from leave by now? Why is it we have to do all the chasing? Maybe just persist without leaving too much of an interval between "persistences". And get back to the Truro sec. It Is Not Good Enough ! !

Sorry to "go on" about my problem. In the big scheme of things it's relatively unimportant.

My son's best mate is a specialist in bladder/bowel problems. Son has passed on my message to see if he can advise me.

Bellanonna I haven't a clue. My last phone call was to the Gynaecologist who prodded me to within an inch of my life seven weeks ago. She promised to contact the surgeon who carried out the procedure in Truro. I phoned her secretary two weeks ago. The gynae was on leave. Secretary looked for any mail that may have arrived from Truro. There was none. What really angers me is that it's as if the surgery never happened. Ten days in hospital and a hefty bill to pay. I'm flummoxed.

Where are your ** notes for goodness sake?? Have they lost them?

When I last saw the two consultants in Glasgow with ref to the very long standing problem with my pelvic floor, it was suggested that they contact the surgeon at the private hospital in Truro to establish whether or not mesh had been implanted. The procedure cost approx. £5000. There has been no response. Zilch! For almost two years I visited almost every hospital in Glasgow for tests. I've been told that further surgery is inadvisable. I am not disputing that fact. Do you think that I'm being unreasonable to feel angry because no-one can answer a perfectly straight forward question. Was mesh used?

Oh no, she's not my new doggy. It's my neighbours. I'll get a photo tomorrow hopefully. Vet wants my dog to have an ultrasound next. I haven't decided yet as I don't want her going through stress and pain . She doesn't seem to be in pain. I don't usually hide my head in the sand but I am for a while.
