Here we are again...
Happy as can be
All good pals and jolly good company.

Make yourselves comfortable. I shall pop in later with a few treats.

Wow,*Galen*. Looks as though somebody's had a good time. Just hope there's no Lego amongst that lot - so painful to stand on in bare feet.

Galen Sat 22-Apr-17 23:22:51

My usually tidy lounge.
Guess who's visiting?

callgirl1 Sat 22-Apr-17 22:47:36

So sorry about the flowers Soop, I did wonder about the silver spray, but thought that as they were a "proper" florist it would be OK. I`ll know in future.
It`s taken me till now to get on here, daughter`s laptop packed up last night, so mine has been on loan all day today, and her new one doesn`t come till Monday.

Hope you all have a happy weekend. I am too tired (well just shared a bottle of wine so not sure tired is the correct word blush) to write much.

Love the puppy photos wot we had one just like that. So cute. I see you have indulged too. Never heard of Granache. Wot is it? grin

cornergran Sat 22-Apr-17 18:35:07

The sunshine has tempted the resident tortoise out of her shell today. Had a lovely garden centre wander, some beautiful plants in bloom. Loving the photos of the beautiful children as ever and oh so envious of the very cute dogs. Don't let the parking police get away with it kitty and n&g. Where has common sense gone? Certainly not applied to your medical records, soop, you sound very determined, good for you, hope determination wins over incompetence. Here's hoping all poorly people mend soon

soop Sat 22-Apr-17 17:56:55

wot Bless! I trust that you won't get a fuzzy head. I also hope that the sun has shone on all our lovely Granspals. There remains a chilly bite to the breeze. Otherwise, it's been a perfect day.

Away to help with preparing tonight's meal. We've an apple pie for pud. I've simmered some delicious plums in elderflower cordial. I have a great liking for plums.

Enjoy Saturday evening. I look forward to joining you tomorrow. smile moon

wot Sat 22-Apr-17 17:23:08

Well, here's me having consumed a bottle of Granache cheap from Lidls.

soop Sat 22-Apr-17 13:35:57

A sunny good afternoon to you lovely lot...

callg It was evident that Kian loved you when we met him this time last week. He is a delightful young lad.
The gorgeous flowers that you so kindly gave me, died very quickly. I'm convinced that it was the silver spray that coated the petals and leaves. I returned them to the florist and told her that the flowers were perfect. It was the spray that killed them. She wanted to reimburse us. I told her that wasn't necessary. I'm hoping that David's flowers were spray-free.

Bellanonna Our GP has asked for clarification over and over...
My son's good pal phoned as promised. He suggested having a private consultation. If we had sufficient funds in the kitty, we would have done so long ago. Anyway, I shall keep you updated. I've no intention of wandering off and forgetting the matter. I'm in for the long haul.

Nelliemoser Sat 22-Apr-17 08:00:10

Mawbroon I did not know that Grace was that old 14 is a very good age.

Bellanonna Fri 21-Apr-17 19:28:13

Some lovely GC pics on here.
soop does anyone ever answer the phone these days? At least as it was a GP who left the message a reply might be forthcoming. I feel you've set the ball rolling and just have to wait for things to happen now.
callgirl that's frustrating to say the least. I managed to get an appointment today (now have bronchitis), drove the 6m or so to have a chest X-ray and waited five minutes for my antibiotics to be dispensed at the chemist. I hope you are not out of your meds if you have to wait till next week. Would just sitting in the surgery till someone agreed to sign it have been an option? I know you said you got a lift there so maybe they couldn't have waited. Very bad service.
Yes it's lovely to keep being told you're loved. My little 5 yr old does that. It melts your heart, doesn't it.

callgirl1 Fri 21-Apr-17 18:01:59

Sorry, clicked again by accident!

callgirl1 Fri 21-Apr-17 18:01:13

Soop, hopefully your GP will get a call back from the hospital in Cornwall, let`s just hope that they don`t think themselves a cut above replying to callers!
I love the Crinan canal, it` a very pretty walk, although we (lazy buggers that we were) drove it, and on into Crinan village, some lovely views from there.
MawB and Kitty, lovely photos.
Kian went home this afternoon after my 3rd time of having him this week, probably won`t see him for a while now, he`s back at school on Monday. He kept telling me that he loved me, which was nice, nobody else does!
I ordered 2 prescriptions from the surgery on Wednesday, was told they`d be at the pharmacy for me to collect today. I cadged a lift up there from my son this afternoon, Lynne`s was there, mine wasn`t. Rang the surgery to ask why, there`s a doctor on holiday, they`ve been busy this week and haven`t got around to getting mine signed by a doctor. Once they get to the pharmacy it takes 2 days for them to be ready, so that` another trek up there in the middle of next week, GRRRRR!!!

Greyduster grin

Bellasnana So sorry to hear that wee Bella has had a rough time recently. I hope that she's beginning to recover. Is the figolla the delicious cake that you sent to us from Malta? Whatever it was...it was delicious. I seem to recall that it lasted all of three days. wink

kitty and MawB I love the photos.

anno Thank you for sharing the website.

oldgoat Enjoy the canal walk. There is a super walk starting at Lochgilphead. It's alongside the picturesque Crinan canal.

GP was, as always, very kind. He phoned the specialist's number in Glasgow...and the private hospital in Cornwall. Guess what? No one to take either call. Please leave a message. He did so. And that was that. My son's good friend is to phone me this evening. Hey ho! As bags would say.

I'm wishing you all a very good evening. The sun has put in an appearance. Everything seems more cheerful in sunlight.

Until tomorrow. smile moon

kittylester Fri 21-Apr-17 17:28:13

I'm definitely appealing anno, so thank you for the link. I will be appealing on the basis that, if the council assesses him as needing, and pays for, his pa, then it stands to reason that he needs someone while she is away! Pigging ridiculous!!

Glad the dog survived. Maw grin

That gorgeous little girl is a complete terror in real life!

oldgoat Fri 21-Apr-17 17:23:30

We are off for a walk along the Huddersfield narrow canal tomorrow greyduster so we will heed your advice about towpaths being dodgy places.

annodomini Fri 21-Apr-17 17:07:45

I have appealed parking charges twice and succeeded. There's a lot of good advice on this web site on how to challenge a parking charge and how to avoid it in the first place.

Greyduster Fri 21-Apr-17 16:57:44

Bellasnana we had a dose of that a couple of months ago when GS was staying here. Fortunately he was not sick in his bed, just everywhere else and then he was afraid to go to sleep in case it happened again. Bless them, it's very traumatic for them when it happens, and makes a lot of work for us. I am very intrigued to know about your figolla and would certainly like to try it. I made a batch of scones this afternoon but am ashamed to offer them to the kitchen because, once again, they have failed to rise, despite the eggs, the baking powder, the eye of newt (I told DH they were raisins ?) and sundry other things I don't usually do! DH, however, who is licking jam and cream off his fingers as we speak, declared them unusually delicious - as biscuits go!

MawBroon Fri 21-Apr-17 16:19:59

What a gorgeous little girl kittylester!!

MawBroon Fri 21-Apr-17 16:18:51

Gute Besserung to your DGD Bellasnana.
Dare I admit that once I knew there was nothing seriously wrong with my children, I rather enjoyed the "poorly, snuggling up to Mummy on the sofa under the duvet watching Bagpuss and not fighting, being stroppy" period of poorliness.
Once they started kicking off again, I knew they were on the mend grin
Now please don't anybody tell me this pic is unhygienic . The dog was absolutely fine afterwards grin

kittylester Fri 21-Apr-17 16:17:38

I am in high dudgeon too!! As some of you know, DS1 is disabled due to a stroke 10 years ago. He is very independent and capable, doing lots of voluntary work, walking, with a stick, all over our small town, swimming and going to the gym. Because he has little or no use in h I s left hand, he has a Pa for 4 hours a week. She does some housework, chopping veg and takes him out. He lives in an adapted HA flat in a block of about 20. There is one other disabled person in the complex. There is a private car park which is patrolled regularly and each flat is allowed one permit per adult - the registration number has to be logged with the ha. DS'S pa has gone away for 2 weeks so I went to do his chopping and a bit of housework. I can park for an hour on the road but, as I was going to be longer, I parked in the car park. You can guess the rest - except my fine was £100!! angry

You will really miss your family if you move so far away n&g sad

Keep us posted on your progress soop

I hope Bella feels better soon Bellasnana

My equilibrium has been restored by being sent the two pictures above of DGD4 after her first haircut. I have serious hair envy!

Bellasnana Fri 21-Apr-17 15:41:17

Would anyone care for a brew and a piece of figolla ( a Maltese Easter tradition which is extremely delicious)?

I'm allowing myself a sit down after tackling an industrial-sized pile of ironing. This was due to DGD being violently sick in my bed on Wednesday night. Poor little soul, I had to shower her at 4am, change her pj's, change the bed, made myself a brew, then as soon as we got into bed, she was sick again all over the clean duvet! Hence another change of bedding, pj's etc, which caused a lot of extra laundry.

She has been staying with me for her Easter break, should have gone back to school yesterday but isn't going until Monday now. She's still not 100%. Hasn't much of an appetite and is having a long nap at present. Don't like to see her poorly, but glad I'm able to help as DD2 is very busy at work.

Weather isn't very Mediterranean at present, but am sure we will all be grumbling about being too hot in a few weeks, so may as well enjoy the cooler temperatures.

Wishing you all a pleasant afternoon smile

Greyduster Fri 21-Apr-17 14:43:26

They do it on purpose, N&G. They are out to get you. It's an easy revenue stream. We got a notice once for not displaying a parking ticket. It was displayed - it had just blown out of position when DH shut the car door. We had not overstayed our time either, so DH objected and got it overturned - eventually!

We took our car in today - I hope for the final time - to get the new sensor fitted, which meant we had three and a half hours to kill (once fitted, they have to then "relearn the car" confused we were told) so we were off up the canal again for a walk. We met a chap with a camera whose first words were "have you seen the kingfisher?" He had, it seemed, seen all manner of wildlife that we had managed to miss in our zombie like early morning torpor, including grass snakes, water voles, stoats and a yellow bellied slider turtle (I kid you not!). He had photographed them all it seemed. Because I politely took an interest, as I was brought up to do (not so DH who had wandered off) he soon had me shackled to a slideshow on his camera. I had to admit his photos were stunning but all I wanted to say to him was "have you seen a bacon sandwich with my name on it because I seriously need to find one soon or I am going to die of starvation!" Narrow canal towpaths are dodgy places too, especially when you meet a lady walking five dogs on leads!!

soop Fri 21-Apr-17 14:39:15

You tell 'em Nana Go for compensation. Bloody cheek!

Galen Awww! smile

We've been to the care home. Our friend was in good spirits. He tells us that he's still recovering from being treated to a "large pheasant" when visitors took him out for a spin in his wheelchair. Pheasant? hmm He then corrected himself...it was a large Grouse whisky. He hadn't had alcohol for two years. The visitors thought that he deserved a large one...on an empty stomach. He's still recovering from an almighty hangover.

We are almost ready to visit the GP. I have the carefully prepared dossier on NHS and lack of dialogue ready and waiting. Two years...and I'm no nearer a resolution or an explanation to a perfectly straight forward request. Was mesh introduced into my body cavity? Where has the file gone? The last specialist guessed that there may be some in the vaginal septum (wherever that may be). I shall update you when I return.

NanaandGrampy Fri 21-Apr-17 14:09:06

Yes anno we did photograph the car next to us, the bay and our car too. We had our blue badge on display too. We couldn't see any specific disabled bays which we thought was odd .

I agree 'oldgoat' cars are getting bigger and spaces are smaller.

That's the sort of result I'd like Tizliz otherwise it will make an expensive haircut for Sam lol !!
