Look, I've got a good idea........why don't lots of us GNers get together and arrange a short break somewhere together. It would be possible. I'm a nervous, shy sort of person in RL but I don't mind going on holiday alone. It's invigorating!

callgirl1 Wed 03-May-17 22:10:20

Should have added, there are a couple of people I`d love to take with me, but it wouldn`t be fair to expect them to travel from Scotland way down to Cornwall.

callgirl1 Wed 03-May-17 22:09:01

But I don`t have anyone to go with MawB, unless any Gransnetters want to take a chance with me? GNHQ haven`t replied as yet.

MawBroon Wed 03-May-17 21:48:44

Can you get the holiday back callgirl?? I am sure you will be able to "put it to good use"
Cornwall out of season can be fantastic, fewer crowds, but still stunning scenery, beaches, countryside etc

callgirl1 Wed 03-May-17 21:41:34

But CharleyG, at least one of the complete strangers would have to pick me up in Boston, I don`t drive. Probably GNHQ will have started picking out another winner by now.

Charleygirl Wed 03-May-17 21:37:19

I think that you should get in touch with GNHQ and give It some thought. It is very early, think about it for a couple of months. I did think that you were jumping the gun a bit declining it so soon. It is only 4 days and who knows, you may have a ball with complete strangers!

callgirl1 Wed 03-May-17 21:28:35

I`m beginning to think I should have asked on here before declining the holiday!

annsixty Wed 03-May-17 21:04:10

Oh How I would love to go with you callgirl a fun time all round and nothing spared.

aggie Wed 03-May-17 21:04:05

So sorry Ann , that sounds very serious , I will say a wee prayer for him xxx

Greyduster Wed 03-May-17 21:01:00

Ann I'm so sorry; that doesn't sound good. We never really know what's round the corner, do we? flowers

annsixty Wed 03-May-17 20:59:37

They have one D and one married GD and they are all there.
Very committed and staunch Catholics so that will help.
My friend is unnaturally calm!!

callgirl1 Wed 03-May-17 20:56:05

I`m so sorry to hear that Ann, it must be really upsetting for you, after all that you did to help.
Wot, I wish I`d known that before I wrote to Gransnet, we`d have had such fun(?)hopefully, getting to know each other!

MawBroon Wed 03-May-17 20:48:56

Ann60 sending flowers that does sound serious sad
I hope all the family are there.

wot Wed 03-May-17 20:46:35

Ann, so sorry xx

PoshGran Wed 03-May-17 20:34:54

So sorry to hear that ann.
Kind thoughts to all.

annsixty Wed 03-May-17 20:29:07

An awful day for me , sorry. My friend is playing a waiting game, her H has not been conscious since arriving at hospital. Brain scan shows major stroke.
He is so much younger than both of us and it is so devastating and emphasises our mortality. We have been friends for over 40 years and spent so much time and so many social occasions together. So upset.

PoshGran Wed 03-May-17 20:11:20

My day has been very ordinary, lightened by much fun at weekly craft group (12 different opinions on where exactly the back legs & tails should be placed on 2 almost identical large stuffed cats)- who would have thought that such demure looking ladies could be so rude lewd helpful? I wondered if you lot were ever like that - surely not!!! grin

A temporarily poorly friend of mine has just sent a pic of her new puppy; it's not a good photo, so it appears to be a pedigree fur ball with currant & prune markings. It's an Alfie who has been welcomed to his new home by aged "big brother" (black lab X) Albert. I have asked her if she will train them to return unerringly when she calls out Al!! (She hasn't replied yet hmm)

I may just ask to help out with dog walking duties in the future... so if I could just borrow a virtual canine, that would do to start with. (There is a lady nearby who walks her cat on a lead.. a retractable one. I wonder what she does when the cat decides to go up a tree???)

For all of us, after such a day for some, may the rest of our evenings be peaceful and the sun shine tomorrow. (Rather than cloudy with a chance of meatballs)
smile

Hope you get there callgirl. Feel disappointed for you.

Well, charley, I'm not sure. We had lived in the last house for 27 years so new to us. I just needed some light relief. As you do. I suspect it's about money laundering so a sensible response about a mortgage or proceeds of a previously mortgaged house was expected. Goodness knows what happens if you say it arrived in the post from a foreign source. hmm. Maybe n&g could find out grin.

wot Wed 03-May-17 18:54:38

Callgirl....I would be delighted to go with you!! Just what I need!

callgirl1 Wed 03-May-17 18:28:27

It`s OK Soop, can`t be helped.

soop Wed 03-May-17 18:17:05

callgirl Heck! That's so disappointing for you. I'm so sorry. You deserve the break. flowers

soop Wed 03-May-17 18:14:46

My day has been lovely. Nothing exciting has happened but I've no complaints whatsoever. Tomorrow we vote. After which, we shall motor to Tarbert to walk around the harbour and buy a sack of birdseed. When I return, I shall pop into the kitchen for a happy hour of catch-up. She says, tongue in cheek.

I wish each and every one of our Granspals a peaceful and pleasant evening. smile moon

callgirl1 Wed 03-May-17 18:13:47

Happy Birthday Cooper! Lovely photos N&G.
Ann, so pleased that your neighbour got to the hospital in time, well done you, hope he`ll soon be well.
I`ve just written to Gransnet to decline the holiday prize that I won last week, regretfully, I may add. There`s just no-one to go with me, they all think it`s too far, in the winter, for 4 days. Shame, I was looking forward to going, especially as I never win things like that. Oh well, best of luck to the person who gets it instead, hope it`s still "one of us".

Just goes to show you can't be too careful. I'm glad it turned out ok though kittylester I bet you don't really want a young hugely built boyfriend do you Galen? think of the trouble it would cause. I'd stick to Alexa if I was you he/she doesn't answer back.....yet!. I hope things are ok for Wot Lovely photos N&G The patio is now clear of sewerage. The mancover just overflowed. We haven't got a septic tank. We're not that rural really. I having a better day. My back is improving I've treated myself to comfy pyjamas bottoms from Lidl £3.50. Plus a small cake and a bottle of wine. I've bought a dyson fan from qvc blush but most of all I've heard that there's going to be an exhibition of the Terracotta Army in Liverpool next year. Tickets to go on sale somtime this year. I know it's a long time off but I'm excited to see it. You look after yourself wot and the same to the rest of you. My nanna duties start tommorow through the weekend. Then I'm off to Spain for 6 days to see my sister. How on earth did I ever manage to go to work

Crafting Wed 03-May-17 17:54:24

Galen perhaps you should ask Alexa to get one for you ??. grin
