Torben's birthday and MacSporran and Rory...

soop Mon 01-May-17 13:12:19

Eeeeek! Another busy morning in the kitchen. Wishing you all a very happy 1st day of May.

bags hmm Fish, chips (cooked in beef fat) and mushy peas. That's what MacS and I call a banquet. If we lived a tad closer, we'd pop in on the off chance that you had some to share. wink

Bella Very funny. I like the word chacun. I must google it.
N&G I also like rambunctious...beautifully descriptive.

callg MacS has been attempting to dissuade Ruaridh from contacting the Cat Protection League. A photo to follow.

Jalima MacS was not in the kitchen. He did however clean up my mess. Awww!
Wasn't Line of Duty a brilliant drama?

granniequeenie Is limoncello a cocktail? It sounds exotic.
The throat is very much improved. The leg still needs dressings changed twice weekly. But it is also a lot better than it was seven weeks ago.

Torben's daddy sent us photos taken of Torben on his birthday. He's holding the Lego gift that we sent him.

Hello friendly folk (not forgetting pampered pets!)
I agree that Bank Holidays lose their charm when "?everyday's a holiday --with Mary?"

Gosh there are some grumpy grans around today!! Wrong side of the bed or what?
I suppose we should be grateful that there is nothing worse going on to occupy their minds (Trump, N Korea, floods in Missouri, General Election, bunions, backache or biliousness)
Nope, everything is clearly fine hmm

Good Morning all !

I am a little disappointed that now I am retired 3 day weekends are no longer so exciting . I guess when every day is a day off its to be expected !!

We had an impromptu Sunday lunch here yesterday with our daughter and the 2 boys. Her husband is finally doing as he is told and was in bed resting. The boys were particularly rambunctious , thank good for a garden where they can let off some steam.

Cooper wanted to change into his shorts and struggled to pull down his trousers, showing me his bottom. I said' Cooper, put that bottom away'. He paused and solemnly informed me 'Its a beautiful bottom Nana ' !! Can't argue with that. Oh for the days when I had a bottom that would fit in the palm of your hand !!

I've noticed some posters- not names I recognise and who I often never see again- who are pretty vitriolic . Maybe they forget that words wound but I now wonder how many people post solely to be contentious?

Hope you're feeling better soop and that those chips were as delicious as they sounded Bags.

Its a quite day here thank goodness- sending you all a little bit of that quiet too !

grannyqueenie Sun 30-Apr-17 22:28:25

All this talk of chips, I can almost smell them smile
Ann and Jalima take no notice, as whether people agree with your point of view or not it's no excuse for the bullying tone some are so quick to adopt. I tend not to say much on other threads for that very reason, but one day something will rile me and I'll forget caution and wade in!
N&G your move sounds very exciting especially being so near the sea, we're a bit landlocked here. However we will head to the south coast later this week to visit our son and his family, our 14 year old granddaughter is a bit of a challenge these days so I may have to button my lip and sit on my hands!!
soop hope your throat is feeiing easier now, what about your leg?
So good to hear better news of your daughter in law these days morethan, it must be such a relief to see that little family having an easier time of it.
Well having had patchy slept for the last few nights it's time to slope off to bed, leaving a tot of limoncello for anyone who fancies a nightcap!

callgirl1 Sun 30-Apr-17 21:40:32

Poor, neglected Rory, he really is mistreated......NOT! Mia is lying on her back looking totally relaxed after snaffling a dollop of cream from a cake I left on the plate, and then mistakenly, and stupidly, put on the floor beside the sofa.

Greyduster Sun 30-Apr-17 20:23:31

Beef dripping... Ok, bags, I might just have changed my mind now! Actually, I was thinking about this fish and chip marathon of yours earlier. When DH was serving in Holland, I used to work in the base library. On evening shifts, our Dutch head librarian would often say "does anyone fancy a Macdonalds?" and would hare off 29km over the German border to Aachen in her very fast car, and return with them still warm and edible. I went with her once; she drove so fast I thought I'd die of fright! I wouldn't cross the road for a Big Mac now, but then....

Bellanonna Sun 30-Apr-17 19:34:22

ann I've seen that comment now, and by whom. Goodness how spiteful, but gratifying to see so many Gnetters quite rightly springing to your defence. Not worth bothering about so do try and forget it. ? I've seen similar (by same).

Galen Sun 30-Apr-17 19:19:42

Lovely

thatbags Sun 30-Apr-17 18:59:56

I wouldn't either, GD, but MrB is good that way (even if not in mowing grass, she mutters). We've done it once before, Bnonna*, and it was fine. The thing is it's a chippy that fries in beef fat so the chips taste like they did when we were kids.

Bellanonna Sun 30-Apr-17 18:56:38

Crikey! Hope they're still warm when you get them. 24 miles is quite a trip but I,m sure they'll be delicious and worth every mile.

Greyduster Sun 30-Apr-17 18:55:58

Bloody hell, bags! That's what I call dedicated. I don't think I'd want fish and chips enough to drive twelve miles for them!

thatbags Sun 30-Apr-17 18:50:27

Hello, everyone. I've had a hard day hacking through a jungle so I didn't feel like cooking dinner. Mr Bags has gone round the loch with two bath towels and a cool bag (well, warm bag in this case) for fish and chips and mushy peas. The towels are part of the insulation because it's twelve miles from the chippy to here.

Jalima1108 Sun 30-Apr-17 18:48:50

Can't get stressed so I won't cook the plums this evening either.grin
There will be enough of that in Line of Duty tonight!

Bellanonna Sun 30-Apr-17 18:45:07

Good for you jalima ?

Jalima1108 Sun 30-Apr-17 18:38:46

I've been told to leave the threads Bellanonna but I find it difficult to do as I'm told wink

soop plums make a lovely gluey mess if they boil over and get stuck to the hob!
which reminds me, I have some plums in the fridge and that reminds me to keep an eagle eye on them whilst they simmer. I do hope that MacS was not in the kitchen while they were boiling over and didn't notice!

cornergran Sun 30-Apr-17 18:30:47

Sunshine soop? Not a glimmer here today. Serious envy envy.

Charleygirl Sun 30-Apr-17 18:09:22

soop that looks like neglect to me! He leads the same sort of life that Tara leads, she is in a similar position on her bed upstairs. In the doggy world I would think that Grace, Sam and Oscar are likewise treated.

Bellanonna Sun 30-Apr-17 17:47:43

ann I haven't seen that thread, but can understand how you must be feeling. Another example of the gratuitous bitchiness that crops up all too frequently. You too jalima?. As many have said, take no notice and leave them to it. There were some surprisingly strong views on the betrothal thread too. It couldn't just be a yes I agree, or no I don't, but oh, if he'd humiliated me by asking for my hand I'd have walked away. Not too much of a fine romance then. But chacun... as our ?? neighbours say.

soop Sun 30-Apr-17 17:32:18

Lovely sunshine. Soon be time for a very welcome G&T.
Until tomorrow...virtual hugs all round. smile moon

soop Sun 30-Apr-17 17:30:51

Not on mine, Galen.

I put a saucepan of plums on the hob to gently simmer. MacS wanders in to gently inform me that they have boiled over and there's a heck of a mess. Yikes!

A photo of Rory for all his fans. He has such a hard life. Honest to goodness, someone needs to contact the cat protection people.

Galen Sun 30-Apr-17 16:29:30

On my pooter. They are emoticons!

soop Sun 30-Apr-17 15:42:42

MawB Well said. Help yourself to slice of MacS's freshly baked bread. It's still warm. Butter and homemade (not mine) rhubarb and ginger jam...and while you're at it, I'm ready for a freshly made brew. My needs are modest

soop Sun 30-Apr-17 15:40:17

Galen What do the blank rectangles represent? Nothing too rude, I hope.

MawBroon Sun 30-Apr-17 15:26:17

annsixty how VERY dare they?
Absolutely out of order, wrong headed and entirely unjustified. angry
